Default Call of Duty 6--Infinity Ward confirmed!

link

Quote:
Activision has confirmed that Infinity Ward will be returning to the Call of Duty franchise, and will be behind the sixth instalment that's due for release in 2009.

Call of Duty is currently in the hands of Treyarch, who previously worked on the third game and are taking the first person shooter back to WWII with the forthcoming World at War. There's still no news on where the next game will be set, and though Infinity Ward is thought to be at work on a futuristic science fiction shooter, it's more likely that this is the touted new IP for the company rather than the introduction of ray guns to the series.
This is good news for me, as I am bummed COD5 is back to the WWII setting

this will be an awesome game! i am going to stear clear of WaW the WW2 genre has been done to death (sorry for the bad pun)

hopefully infinity ward will contiue along the lines of modern day warfare. there are many ways they could take this, but would have to be careful about the story line with the precarious situation in real world with russia, N.korea for example.

I really wonder if there are any government guidelnes on what they can and cannot portray in war games, so they they do not provoke political situations with other nations?

maybe that why modern day warefare games are few and far between and why WW2 games are in abundance because the war has already happened and we know the outcome!

Anyway! Enough of my rambling! BRING ON COD6! Woot Woot!

The best way would be for it to be a fight against separatists within the US. Like some crazy militias took over an army base or something. That way you don't piss any foriegn nations off.

I don't think I'll be getting World at War because like Brett said, WWII's been done to death. I never really got into CoD4 online because basically, I was a bit late. Hopfully when 6 is released, we'll see that change (depending if they stay away from WWII).

From reading on various sites, reasons for people not wanting WaW:

1) Yet another WWII game, but they switch it up by focusing on the boring part of the war. The Pacific Theater! (I think they've since realized this was a mistake, and that's why they added in playing as the Soviets in Eastern Europe part).

2) Tiered DLC. I don't like DLC to begin with, but in some games it works really well (Rock Band), some games it works fairly well (Warhawk) and some games it just feels like you are getting ripped off (Pain).

3) Treyarch.

Even though I'm still upset that they are not patching CoD4 for trophies (and rumble), I'll probably still buy this.

cod6 is the reason they are not patching cod4! COD4 was a massive, hugely successful game without those features. Now it is time for infinity Ward to crank out another best seller in COD6. I'm all for them not concentrating on COD4 so that they can make COD6 even better than modern warfare!

Oh c'mon man, ND did it rather quick, if your code is nice and clean then it shouldn't take that long, the long part would be the testing that's done by the Sony team. They're not the only ones however, I wished for Civ Rev, MGS4, GTA4, Ratchet, Resistance, DMC4, Assassins Creed, etc to have trophies, even smaller budget games like Singstar, Eye of Judgment and SSHD are getting trophy patches...oh well.
