Default Which Samsung to buy?

A friend of mine can get a free Samsung. He has the option to choose one of these three:

LN40B530
Ln40B540
LN40B610

Which one is the best for watching cable/HDtv and some movies?

Well I read something that the higher hz tv is bad to watch cable on?

I don't know much about it so that is why I am asking.

No.. its a refresh rate, it has nothing to do with cable... Its basically an artificial program that simulates more pixels on the screen to help motion blur and quicken respone times, because lcds have slower Refresh rates than plasmas, so in fast moving video, such as a hockey puck or fast camera pans , they blur when moved quickly..

So technically the higher refresh rate the better

normal tv is 60 hz refresh rate
120hz doubles the standard refresh rate speed
240 quadruples the standard etc etc

average plasma is 600 hz

I have the LN40B610

You can adjust the hz for each individual input.

If it's free, just get the better/higher model.

you cant adjust the refresh rate.. its always on.. 60, 120 , 240 .. whatever your set is... The amp settings are able to adjust what level you would like it on...TO me anything above medium, just makes it look to artificial

Then what is the 'Off', 'Clear', 'Standard', 'Smooth' and 'Custom' under the 'Auto Motion Plus 120hz'. Whatever the Custom is, I can adjust some numbers, I thought that was it.

Hz, or refresh rate, cannot be adjusted. On the Samsung 610, for example, the set will ALWAYS run at 120Hz no matter what source it is fed. The AMP setting lets you adjust how "aggressive" you want frame interpolation to smooth out the image.
