Default A question for experts.(Onkyo)

I just purchased a sony kdl46w3100 and a ps3. Im going to use the ps3 as a blu ray player. I have an older onkyo receiver that does not have hdmi hookups.
Im wanting to be able to play the hd codecs and i have been looking at receivers. Im about ready to pull the trigger on the onkyo txsr606, i know to run my ps3 in linear pcm mode for the hd codecs, my question is will there be any image loss by running my ps3>recevier>tv when watching blu rays in 1080p? Would the picture be better if i ran the hdmi straight to the tv? If so, what can i do if i want the hd audio codecs and the best possible 1080p picture? Any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated thank you

606 is a great receiver. if you run the hdmi through the receiver then to the tv you will NOT have any decline in the picture quality as the 606 passes 1080p through to the tv. the only way you will get the hd codecs is by running the hdmi cable through the receiver first, regardless of the receiver you choose to buy (assuming of course the receiver can receive and handle pcm)
