Default Powercenters?

Are these really a necessity. I went out and bought the Monster HDP1800 because I figured it would improve my already amazing picture on my Sharp Aquos and I have to say, I was not impressed especially the $300 price tag I payed (I know I could have gotten cheaper on Amazon). Are these mainly to protect from surges? I plan on returning it unless I can get some good reasons why I shouldn't. Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks

Power centres/surge protectors are used to protect your equipment from variances in current, blackouts, brownouts, etc. I suppose they do other things as well, but I'm not technologically savvy enough to explain or comment on those.

They DO NOT improve picture quality one iota!

I wouldn't necessarily return the item as you mentioned, because good protection is essential in helping to safeguard your investment.

Like John72953 said, they don't do much for picture (when you're using a fixed pixel display with digital sources).

Check out the power conditioner thread, you will found some useful info and a great deal for an APC H15 power conditioner with voltage regulation (for 170$, the suggested price is 450$).
