Hi all,
Just wondering if anyone knows if it's possible to use open-screw banana plugs on a Klipsch RF-10 floorstanding speaker. I prefer to do it this way but at a first glance it looks like it will only accept bare speaker wire. Can anyone confirm? Thanks |

welcome to the foray azereus,
unfortunately, after looking at the manual, you only have the options of using a barewire connection or spades... id rather not meddle with the build on those speaker wires to accomodate bananas. it can get mushy. no pun intended. as long as you have a good amount of contact between speaker terminal and speaker wire, you should be fine. |

My RB-10s only take bare wire. All my other Klipsch Reference take banana plugs.

Thanks all. I would have preferred to use banana plugs but it's not a deal breaker for me.
I have another question. This is the first time I've owned actual speakers (as opposed to HTIB solutions) so I want to ensure that i hook these up correctly. On the back of each speaker, there are 4 connectors (2 black, 2 red). Which ones do i use? On my receiver (Yamaha HTR6160) there's only 1 black, 1 red per speaker which I thought was normal. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks |

the extra pair are for bi-wiring/amping. You should have plates that connects each set red/red, black/black. Using the top set or the bottom doesn't matter. If you are bi-wiring/amping then you would remove the plates and use all four.

I'm so tired of waiting and trying to maximize my limited budget that I'm leaning towards just picking up a set of Polk 6750's. Hopefully there won't be any issues with that and the Yamaha 6160. At least then I'll be able to enjoy my Blu's and will get something bigger/better in the future when I'm in a position to do so.

there shouldnt be any issues whatsover, the problem is, will you be 'content' with the set up your planning to go for?
its a matter of patience, research, and a lot of auditioning. dont just 'settle' for second fiddle, find the best that matches your preferences, and work towards that goal. read: save! good luck! |
