Default 7.1 audio movies?

Brand new to the site, been lurking for a year or so. Wanted to know if there was a list of Blu's with 7.1. Just upgraded my theater, and want to get an idea of the movies that can make the most of it. Thanks!

Check out this very useful site. Click on 7.1 under Audio options to get a list of Blu-rays with 7.1 soundtracks.

And with some AVR you can apply 7.1 remix to any 5.1 (PCM, TrueHD and DTS HD) too. It works better on some title than others but still nice!

Heed ryoohki's comment. You don't need 7.1 source content to take advantage of your 7.1 speaker configuration. It's more marketing than reality. Of course, if you "believe" the home 7.1 're-mix' sounds better than 7.1 extracted from 5.1... it likely will sound better. So, enjoy.

Right... except if you take a 7.1 source, downmix it to 5.1 (for older recievers that aren't true 7.1 receivers, which there are A LOT of) and then try applying PLIIx to make it "7.1," that no longer works. The extra discrete effects in the back channels get locked in the side channels... Where as if they left it in it's original 5.1 forum, PLIIx would probably work better and give you better imaging of where certain effects are coming from.

I think that the movie "Waiting..." has the best 7.1 mix out there.

HA.

HA.
Yeah, that film absolutely needed a 7.1 mix with it's... ginormous budget... and incredible sound... and action sequences... and goats...
