Default HD Guru reviews 65" LaserVue - amongst best sets ever tested

http://hdguru.com/mitsubishi-laservu...exclusive/310/

There you go, with the exception of motion resolution and viewing angles the LaserVue looks like a real winner with brightness and colour accuracy never before seen and black details to impress anyone.

Looks like a technology to watch.

So many toys, so little disposable income in an economic downturn . . .

Back to the Actual Topic of the Thread.....

I would like to know just how large they intend to go with these sets. It seems they cannot go under 60 inches, but can they go over say 80+? Could be interesting.

I think another issue would be how cost effective would it be to go that large? Would they sell enough sets to counter any R&D costs? Sony and other rear projection companies dropped out because people weren't buying dlp and sxrd sets at the same pace they were years ago.

Well if they've got 65" and 73" on board, I'll bet they can hit 80" inches...that would be interesting especially if the cost came down quickly.

If the way a TV looks in bright light seems to appeal to most average consumers, by the sounds of things Mitsubishi could be bringing back the projection set crowd.

I do miss those SXRD sets. Sony had a real winner with those.

depends on what they can get the cost down too.. I love OLED seems to be a blend of the best features of both technologies today (yes both technologies have strengths), and an improvement on them.. I just hope they continue to develop the technology.

btw I agree XBR8 is "outrageously priced for its performance." I even stated that eariler, thought it nice to point out where we agree.. but if they got the price down to same as equivelents sized plasmas I would not hesistate to pick it up.

quite frankly I think most people (most people being most people in America not on this board) think the same about KURO's and any top of the line LCD or Plasma TV's.. really wish they could make them for alot less.

Hopefully with Panasonic making the panels for Hitachi and Pioneer we might see the Kuro technology come down a little in price.

Although the 50" PDP-5010FD is available from Tiger Direct for $2,499 with no shipping charges right now. Not a bad deal at all!

The only question is, if Mitsu is alone in this technology, who will help them bring their costs down?

Fine as long as they can make them as thin as next years models. "Thin" next year will be the new black.

Well, we seem to be down to just Mits now. Looks like RPTV DLP is going the way of RPTV LCoS.

Personally, I'd rather have LCoS & DLP around in RPTV forms to tide me over until OLED seizes the market.

From a PQ aspect, yes. I still haven't seen a set that I like better than my 70" XBR2. From a durability/quality control control aspect, they leave a lot to be desired, as is evident from the posts on the AVS forum.

"Green blob" comes to mind. Looks like JVC & partners were the only ones to make LCoS chips successfully.

Laserview looks interesting. Price seems difficult to overcome for most.

In regards to LCoS, JVC sets have/had just as many problems as the Sony's. My JVC LcoS set suffered from a light engine failure and I replaced it with my current Samsung LED DLP. My Sony XBR2 *knock on wood* is still blob free after 29 months of ownership.

I'd like to see your documentation that JVC LCoS sets have/had just as many problems as the Sony LCoS. I suspect that is your own unsupported opinion.

Certainly, the fact that JVC LCoS RPTVs had a longer lifetime on the shelves, and are still sold in FPTV format, says much.

I want my 61" JVC to last until I can buy and afford a 61"-70" OLED set.

So can this LaserVue have the 120hz fast pace moving like the Sony's and Samsungs can? I noticed my friend had a regular Mitsubishi 65 inch 1080 with 120ghz and the image didnt seem to move faster or have any less of a blur then my TV, and mine doesnt have the 120ghz.

There is an option in the 120Hz TV's menus that you have to turn on to get that super smooth look. Different manufacturers have different names for it but it will be called something like "Frame Creation" or "Reality Enhancement" etc.
