Well, I'll throw in my endorsement of dvdaf.com. I've always liked their interface a little better, though you do lose some of the more detailed info on each release that DVD Profiler has.

Do any of the above sites have a way to mark something as viewed without using a date?

I had registered for DVDSpot, and always hated that when I entered my collection in I had incorrect dates for purchases and no viewings.

I did want to create an online collection site that was a tad different than the existing ones out there. I guess this is a good enough time as any to start designing one? DVD Afficionado does have some nice features. DVD Profiler is also good. In all honesty though I never really understood keeping all detailed movie information. I have never needed it.

I think it is really to allow other people to see what you have because I don't really see why you would need to refer to it that often. The only reason why I would think it would be a good idea to keep a collection online is in the event that it allows you to sell/trade movies with other individuals. That is one idea I'm toying with although services like PeerFlix already exist.
