Question Digital Copy on DVD player

Can the digital copy included with other BD (Sleeping Beauty for example) be played on a regular DVD player?

That would be the only thing holding me back from buying BD movies such as Wall E. I want my kids to be able to watch the movie in the car's player.

Thank you

If Im not mistaken, and I might be, I am pretty sure the extra sleeping beauty disc isnt a digital copy but an actual DVD so you can play it in those players.

The Digital Copy of Jumper wouldn't play on a dvd player. So I assume all will not play on a dvd player, but just in your computer once ripped to your HD and opened in iTunes or WMP. As for Sleeping Beauty I haven't picked that up yet so cant say.

Yes, the extra disc in Sleeping Beauty IS a regular DVD. They are even advertising it that way for people who don't yet have a blu-ray player. They can buy this package and have the DVD now and the Blu when they buy their Blu-ray player.

Thanks for the response. My computer is a dinosaur and I do not have a dvd-rom so I will have to have a friend probably burn it for me.

Thanks again for the help.

It sounds like the combo discs from a debunked format from long ago, except MUCH better implemented. It's SO nice to have a separate disc instead of a flipper.

Not at all. They are tied to the computer and portable video device that it was authorized to. You can't use it on DVD players as they are encrypted and is a computer file, not a DVD-based structure.

Every digital copy BD that I've purchased is either tied to iTunes or Windows Media Player. When inserted it asks the user which media player they want to use. After the user selection it then ask for the serial number provided in the BD case literature. Once entered the digital copy is then downloaded and stored in the appropriate folder for whatever media player was selected.

For example, if you first selected iTunes, it would open iTunes and access the iTunes store upon a successful serial number entry. The digital copy would then be downloaded from the iTunes store and placed in the Movies folder of the iTunes library.

You can't move the digital copy from computer to computer, or to another DVD. Only to an approved portable music device.
