Default Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut, a question

for anyone who's seen this; is there any reason for the R rating other than violence? I want to know if I can let the kids watch it.

I am not sure but the Directors Cut isn't rated and I won't let my kids look at it..aside from the violence they is also some nudity.

I would suggest against it personally, but I guess it depends on how old your kids are. There is some graphic violence, there are some adult themes on relationships and cheating, there is some views of disease and death.

As a parent the decision is always up to you on what your kids can watch, but I'd be careful with this title. Of course, my kid is 4 so take that into consideration. MIB is about as far as I go with her.

I doubt it's a good idea. As a 3hr+ movie, they may honestly be very bored. The action and violence only comprises a fraction of the butt-numbing runtime (not to say that there isn't a lot of violence, there is). There are numerous adult themes, but if your children are very young, most of them will fly right over their heads, because it's not "in your face" like so many other films. I would say, 13 and over, go for it, 6 and under, too young to catch any of it.

BTW, I'm only 17, so this isn't a parent's informed decision. I've just watched the movie many many times.

The violence is much more graphic than the theatrical version, but excluding that, Balian and Sybila's affair is played out more in the DC (not with nudity but it's still what it is) and there's a brief scene when after Guy discovers their affair he retaliates and he and one of his servants start to "get it on."

Actually it is rated. It says 'R for Strong Violence and Epic Warfare' right on the back of the BD. There are a couple of sex scenes, but no nudity. If there was it'd be on the rating.

Nicely answered, all of you. Thanks.

I should have qualified it by saying my older kids are 12 & 14. Mostly I let them watch most movies with the exception of nudity (since 99% of the time it's sexual in nature) and graphic language (they hear plenty of that in school, they don't need it reinforced at home).

In that case, I would say it depends on the maturity level of your kids. The movie has some strong themes in it that might be interesting to discuss with your kids at that age, if you think they can handle the content.

I am 24 and I didn't get all of the political aspects of the movie. If there only 9 or 10 they most likely won't get the politics surrounding this movie. Why don't you watch this yourself and then you can decide if you want your child watching it.
