Default LBP and GT5P 80GB Bundle Planned!! (JAPAN ONLY)

Sony plans to release a LittleBigPlanet and Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III bundle in black, white, and silver to Japan only at this time.

Quote:
October 8, 2008 - One of Sony's big Tokyo Game Show announcements has leaked out early through Famitsu. Sony will be releasing the 80 gigabyte PS3 model to Japan, the magazine reveals in its latest issue. Bundled with a Dual Shock 3, the new high capacity model will sell for 39,800 yen, the current price of the 40 gigabyte model. Sony will offer the system in black, white, and silver color varieties.

The deal gets better, though, as for a limted time, Sony will be including Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III with the system, turning this into an effective 4,500 yen price drop for those who were interested in buying the racer anyway.

Spec III, which became available as an online update late last week for current Prologue owners, will also see its very own full release in Japan. GT5 Prologue Spec III will be released in Blu-ray disc and downloadable form on October 30, costing, respectively, 4,980 and 4,500 yen. These are the same prices as the current rev of Prologue.

In other PS3 bundle news, Sony will be bundling the 80 gigabyte model with two Dual Shocks and a copy of LittleBigPlanet as part of the "PlayStation 3 LittleBigPlanet Dream Box." This bundle, which comes in a special box featuring artwork of Sack Boy, will sell for 44,980 yen. Black, white, and silver models will also be on offer.

Sony is also planning on pushing LittleBigPlanet through a DualShock 3 bundle. A copy of the game will be bundled with a DualShock 3 at 7,980 yen, representing a savings of some 3,500 yen over buying the products separately. The controller bundles will also be available in black, white, and silver varieties.

Those who just want LittleBigPlanet on its own have a bonus item to look forward to as well. Sony will include a code with first print copies of the game that can be exchanged for a Piposaru costume for Sack Boy. Poposaru is the name of the brainwashed monkeys from the Ape Escape series.

All this bundle news applies only to Japan at the moment.

nice, although I still stand by my stance that LBP is not a console mover (although it will be a better game than actual "system sellers"). Check anywhere outside this and Playstation exclusive forums - idiots around the world are like "wth?" and "looks stupid"

I agree with ya. My brother thinks its stoopid, my younger sis thinks its stoopid, I'd say that they probably like movie licenced games if you ask me. I'm not sure if its creation thing will appeal to younger kids, its hard for me to create something alone. It seemed like something to appeal to the masses, but no.

you may be right, and really only time will tell. LBP is an interesting game because i can see it appealing to casual and non-gamers as well, but it is going to take a lot of advertising to help them understand exactly what type of game it is. even then you can't really get a feel for it until you actually play it. the sheer insanity that has happened to the PS3 community with respect to the beta codes indicates that this game will sell well, but not that it will make people buy systems. MGS4 did sell systems because it appeals to hard-core gamers, and there is certainly a lot of other similar games that helped justify the $500 purchase.

i think what it could happen is have a lot of families buying this game but not because of the game alone. you will have fathers and mothers out there who want a blu-ray player and then go to a best buy and see a LBP bundle and think, "hey, my kids would really like that." IMO that is the best bet sony has of pulling in casual and non-gamers, but again, time will tell.

right now no indication of a US or EU release, but it certainly is possible that SCEA and SCEE will follow suit.

It might not be a huge hit at first, but as the community grows this game has the potential to be huge. The more users, the higher the possibility for awesome created content to share. It has a hill to climb since its a new IP and new concept overall, but I can see people really getting into this.

Anyone who thinks LBP won't be all over Leno, The Today Show, Good Morning America, etc., in the very near future is probably pretty naive.

Once the LBP community gets going it will become a tidal wave VERY quickly. Only takes a couple/few people talking it up about all the stuff they are doing at work for the affect to start.

And yet I know 4 people who work in the same office I do who are buying a PS3 because LBP has sucked them in. These are people who didn't even blink at Metal Gear Solid 4.

System movers aren't going to pull everyone. That still doesn't mean it's not a system mover.

Well it should be. The US will eventually get a similar release like that. Takes time.
