Default onkyo HT-SR800

would this 7.1 surround system http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-HT-SR800...3418354&sr=8-3 be a good cheaper starter? i want to experience the full package that blu offers. the audio for the system is done with standard plugs, not hdmi(though it has pass through hdmi inputs). is this something i have to be wary of?

depends on your player. if your player can decode the hd audio then youll have to use analog 5.1 out of the player into 5.1 analog in of the reciever. otherwise you need an hdmi in on the receiver that is NOT passthrough.

You would need a receiver that accepts linear PCM via HDMI in order to get the HD audio tracks from your PS3. You should be able to find an Onkyo 606 in that price range that has 4 HDMI inputs.
