What is SCEJ doing ? - Blu-ray Forum

I'm not talking about the TGS (still going on), Tekken 6 or anyting like that, no.

I am talking about this week's sales in Japan. No surprise, the 360 continues to fall in sales (as I predicted, the additional sales were more due to IU being released than the price ut), but the PS3 is crumbling in sales.
A mere 7k units in October, 2 months away from the holidays?

The PS2 has passed both consoles in sales this week.

So my question is this: Why is there such a huge shortage of Software released on the PS3 in Japan? This is ridiculous. What has SCEJ been doing during 2007 and early 2008?

Not specially a bad week -overall- for Sony with sales rank 2 and 4, but yeesh.

I develop for a first-party Sony studio, and they showed it at our annual Gameshare conference early this year -- That's where all of the internal studios present to each other. Team ICO's demo was a show-stopper.

SCEJ is continuing to let the PS2 thrive at the expense of the PS3 would be my guess.

The PSP floudered forever but once a couple high profile games came out it took off. I'd believe the PS3 will do the same thing.

Hey J6P, if you really work for a 1st Party studio, then can you tell us any inside scoop like PS2 software emulation as been rumored before? Slim PS3 as been rumored? Is Sony buying out 2nd party developers as hinted by IGN and Max here on the forums?

You're completely correct! It's obviously impossible to prove without putting a job that I very much enjoy down the crapper. All I can say is that this screen grab was from the first few moments of the trailer we saw, and a very ICO bit of awesomeness is attached to that chain. But anybody could say that.

I'm sure whatever they show to announce will be different, however. We saw this way back in the first week of Dec. last year.

Anyway... good things to look forward to. Team ICO do not know how to make a poor game.

The PS2 makes $$$ on every console sold. The PS3 does not.

It's that simple. Once they get the cheaper tech in the PS3 so it is more profitable on a console selling basis it will become first priority. Right now, they are milking their 'cash cow' called Playstation2.

Good deal J6P, I'm sure if you told everybody what you saw, Sony ninjas would track you down. I'm really looking forward to TRICO, but the problem with TRICO is like the problem with Q. Tarantino's movies after Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill 1 and 2, Death Proof, were all great, but they weren't no Pulp Fiction, I doubt TRICO is gonna be as good as SOTC.
