Default Which Blu-ray player are you waiting for?

I plan on getting a dedicated standalone Blu-ray player before years end but I have no clue as to which one I will get.

I almost bought the Sony BDP-S350 today for $249 CDN but it's only 1.1 and you need an attached usb drive to enable 2.0 with a future firmware update.
I decided to pass on it and wait for something else.

Which Blu-ray player are you guys waiting for?

Zak

I already have one of those!
The PS3 is great but I want a player that can bitstream TrueHD and DTS-HD MA to my Yamaha RX-V3800 receiver.

Thanks,
Zak

I love my PS3, but there is no such thing as good enough. I'm drooling over the Pioneer Elite BDP-09FD.

Pick up that sony s350. I just pickup one up myself and i love it! The Firmware update is available to make it 2.0 and I bought a 1gb usb stick for $7. Especially since you can get it for $250!

Although I own both Sony BDP-S1 Region A (still going strong) and Pioneer BDP-LX71 Region B (newly acquired) players, I am ultimately waiting for a true multi-region player from Arcam (or Naim, Meridian etc). From previous experience of specialist UK companies dabbling with new technologies, I'll probably skip the first gen player and wait for them to work out the inevitable glitches.

I'll like the Onkyo DV-BD606 just hard to shell out 600.00 when my ps3 is doing the job just fine.

I don't think that anyone has ever accused Onkyo of having the best styling...

...but I think you hit the nail on the head with how the new players look.

I am still waiting for a blu-ray player that is profile 2.0 and strictly bit streams with no decode of TrueHD or DTS HD-MA. The Sony BDP-S350 comes close an I suppose I could treat the internal decode of TrueHD as a nice extra, but I really don't want it or need it.

Other features I need:

Ethernet port for updates
1 GB Internal Memory
SD Card Slot/USB Slot for extra memory and for picture/video/music files

As a result I am awaiting the Panasonic DMP-BD35 which nearly perfectly matches my blu-ray player requirements.

I'm going either with the Sony S550 or the Panasonic BD55. That will let me wait to upgrade my receiver and speakers sometime next year.

Default which blu to buy

I am waiting for the Sony 550.. 2.0, 1gig built in storage, decodes all HD sound, DD and DTS, for more info on the players go to players on this site and you will get all the specs. It is suppose to do it all. I now have the ps3 and am running my 7.1 sound out as pcm to my sony 3200es receiver which has hdmi but is 2 years old and does not have the built in decoders. I have heard the sound on a receiver with a bitstream connection and I cannot tell the difference. My problem is after a few hours the fan gets very loud on the PS3. 550 will be at $399.99 CAD and should drop within a few weeks to $349.99 CAD.
