Default Importing a Region B player is very difficult

I have been dead set on importing a Region B Sony S-350 for a couple of weeks now, but it so seems nearly impossible. Amazon UK has it for a very reasonable price but when I proceed to purchase it it denies my address because it doesn't ship Blu-ray players to the US. Ebay Uk sellers are not willing to ship to the US either unless the player is going for an outrageous price.

Why is it so difficult to import one? I hear of plenty of Europeans who import Region A players but the opposite is quite difficult. Can anyone make suggestions on how I can achieve this at a reasonable price? Any trustworthy sites from the UK, France, or Germany?

Thanks for your help in advance guys.

its just as difficult as buying a regio a playerin the usa and shipping it to the netherlands
don,t know if this has anything to do with 9/11 and sending electronic parts trough air

i wanted to but no way with amazon, or otherwise the prices for shipping was way too high, but the very reason that made me decide to keep goin with region b stuff is for guaranties.. just think about it( my ps 3 died about one year after buying it so i bought the sony bdp s 350, very good)

The Panasonic BD30 and BD50's can be made region free for both DVD and Blu-ray, including playback of PAL content. That might be easier and cheaper.

I had seen these mods on other websites while looking for a player but I have a strong feeling that the studios will have counter-measures against these kind of things in the future. But I will keep this in mind, thank you.

One of the sellers on Amazon UK (the most expensive one) will ship a S350 to the US. I'm in the same boat at you and hope a cheap alternative pops up. Hate to think what the import duty would be on one too.

It would seem all of the retailers who sell Region B players (that I looked at anyway) won't ship outside Europe.

I would love to get the player from Australia because it makes no difference to me which country it originates from as long as it is a Region B player. But has the Sony S350 been released in Australia?

It's legal. The reason is because you've already bought the player, and whatever you do with it is your prerogative. You'll lose the warranty, though.

I shipped a Region A player to Turkey, cost about 80.00 express mail. I enclosed the newest firmware disc and the buyer was happy. I dont mind helping anyone out to get one either, Its not that hard to do. I would recommend express mail for tracking but if the buyer buys it direct from amazon and ships to me, I will ship it priority mail insured, much cheaper

For anyone who knows German, would it be possible to properly translate this letter for me? I found a person in Germany who might have what I want but I don't think he speaks English. I would use an online translator but those things never come out correctly.

I kept it as short as possible...

Hello,

I was just wondering if the player you are selling is Region B or Region A?

Thanks.

Thanks guys.

^ I've only been learning German for about nine months but I think I can get the message across:

"Hallo,

Ich frage mich, wenn der Blurayspieler Region B (Europäische Union) oder Region A (USA) ist? Wo haben Sie er gekauft? Deutschland oder ist er ein amerikanischer Import?

Vielen dank"

there you go... in addition, I also asked if it was purchased in Germany or is an American import.
oh, and did you read my topic on how my rare region B PS3 was stolen? I'm so mad.

Thank you very much. Yes, I did read your thread and I am extremely sorry to hear what happened. I have been searching for a Region B player for weeks now and I know how difficult it is to find one.

Your German is very good. When I read your thread I was under the impression that you had just begun to learn it but you seem to be very well along. Keep up the great work.

I've imported lots of region 1/A players from the US to the UK, but mainly from established sellers on well-known forums. Amazon won't sell me anything except BDs etc.

At least you guys in the US dont have to put up with DVD players that don't play your local format (PAL/NTSC).

Nick

^Lucky that you ordered your new player... I still wish I had my PS3. Would have been nice to enjoy some EU only Singstar releases.
