Default Blu-ray or DVD copy?

Question:

I don't usually purchase ALL blu-ray releases; unless, they are worthy of 30$ or a great bargain! So.. i find myself still purchasing DVDs if i'm not really all uppity about the movie... so here is my question, should I purchase the following movies on BLU or DiVD?

- Indiana Jones 4 (haven't seen it)
- The Hulk (haven't seen it)

I know these two are one of the SUMMER BLOCKBUSTERS this year; aside from IRON MAN and THE DARK KNIGHT, of course.

thoughts.....

Sorry, probably not the best person to ask because I find DVD to be revolting now, especially if the blu version is out. Plus, why the hell are you paying $30 + dollars for a blu ray!!!! you can find them for much much cheaper if you look or are willing to wait a few weeks.

What's the point here? You know everyone on a blu-ray board is going to recommend you buy them on blu-ray. Also, are people really paying $30 per disc?

You can get pretty much everything for around $20-25 new, and $10-15 used on Amazon. Shop around, people.

why not rent them first??? you havent seen any of those 2 movies and it would be a waste to waste $30 on a movie you havent seen yet.

all these blind buyers should not blind buy, test the item out before wasting your hard earned cash.

Renting usually cost about 5$- when you can put that 5$ towards your purchase.. not only that, you don't have to go back to the store and return them... iHate renting as well lol iDid have a blockbuster online acct; but finding myself not watching the movies that came in the mail for me

I'll be blind buying both myself. I'm 99% sure I'll love Indy IV and 75% sure I'll like the TIH, so.... Anyways renting first on DVD to see if you like the movie itself might be the safest way to go if your kind of unsure. Though I can say the BD quality for these 2 movies should be stellar. So no concerns there.

Think of it as an investment...spending 5 to 7 dollars on a rental won't hurt that much, plus you can watch it over and over until you return it. 30+ dollars adds up especially on movies that are blind bought. If you don't like the movie, you obviouslly return it and hey, you got a movie night out of it and that definelty doesn't hurt the wallet

I think you're talking about The Incredible Hulk, The Hulk is the Ang Lee 2003 version.

I recommend getting both of those movies on Blu-ray. I'm only getting TIH myself, but that's only because I refuse to consciously set myself up for a double dip. I'm a-waitin' for the Indy 4-pack on Blu-ray.

If you have to buy any Hulk movie on blu-ray, wait until Incredible Hulk is out, from the review I've read of The Incredible Hulk blu-ray the dark green Hulk fares much better in high-def than the lime green hulk from The Hulk. The movie also suffers from hammy acting.

In regards to Indiana Jones 4. Watch this before you buy it. People either totally hate this movie (me included) or enjoy it (slightly less than Raiders). If I had to see this movie for the first time on blu-ray or dvd, I'd rent it first. You might end up buying it and totally hating it. If you have to buy it at all, if only so that you don't risk hating yourself for spending so much money, buy the dvd first. Then, if you really like, buy the blu-ray later.

I haven't seen The Incredible Hulk yet but, I will rent it before I buy it. Indy 4 is definitely a rental. This movie was not that great and I would suggest a rent before buy to make sure you will like it.

I as well can never understand blind buying. I could never spend 15-25 dollars on a movie having never seen it before. Its so easy and cheap to rent the movie from netflix then if I like it I will buy it.

If your spending $30 on a new release you really should shop around. I bought Iron Man on day of release for 24.99 at Fry's. They had it regular priced at 29.99 even though the msrp was at 39.99. As far as DVD goes I have not purchased a DVD since I went Blu in Dec '06.

does it really matter? lets be honest how many times are you actually going to re-watch any of those movies? i would say Indy4 is the only one to buy

If they were story driven movies, then i'd say DVD, but since they are both BIG on visuals, the only answer is Blu.

A lot of people didnt care for the sotries these two movies presented, so just in case you fall into that same group, get the Blu for the one thing in both these movies that pretty much everyone can agree on: top notch visuals.

I don't purchase DVD's (with the exception of TV shows). To me, it's thowing money at an inferior format. If a movie isn't on Blu-Ray, I don't purchase it. I will wait for it to be on Blu before getting it. Take The Bourne Ultimatum for instance, I still haven't seen that because it's not on Blu-Ray (and I even have an HD DVD player).

Something that will likely be a fact for you one day. You'll want to watch only blu-ray, and you will look on every DVD you bought after you bought your blu-ray player as a missed opportunity.
