Awesome beans! My fiance was taking a pre-work nap just now and I whispered "wi-fi PSP store." No exaggeration, he was alert and on his feet in 2 seconds! It was so cute

I 'went Mac' in December and the PC Store downloader program is Windows-only so this is music to my ears.

There is this workaround in the meantime though.

Actually I purchased and downloaded Beats straight onto my PS3 from the playstation store on there, did the same with the demos for Patapon and Harvey Birdman. You still have to connect the PSP in USB mode to the PS3 though.

Sony also addressed the PlayStation Portable's multimedia functionality today. Sony will be expanding the portable's network functionality, and will at long last offer direct connection to the PlayStation Store some time this fiscal year.

Default Why can't I buy and download games directly to the PSP?

Why must I sync the PSP to a PS3 in order to download PSP games? Why can't I do it directly on the PSP?

Am I missing something?

You can if you do it though a PC and the Playstation PC storefront.

The PSP network website doesn't offer purchase downloads. it has no account wallet or credit card menu. it just has demos for download. i haven't used it in months. they still have those old @$$ demos up there, so i dont bother. just stick with PSN.

I believe, you can download it to the mem card if you have the mem card slots. I downloaded like crash bandicoot a year and a half ago to my psp memory card. Not sure if that answers your question or not..

This fall! For Japan at least but the PC Store launched worldwide simultaneously so.. we'll see.

Quote:
SCEJ also announced today that it would launch a new network service this fall that will allow PSP users to connect directly to PlayStation®Store, and to download entertainment content without transferring them through PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3®) or PC.*1 At the launch of this network service, SCEJ will be releasing game content for the PSP system such as “Mainichi Issyo Portable,” developed for PSP from the original PS3 title of “Mainichi Issyo”.

*1 Users need to update the latest system software to use the service, and they will also be able to enjoy the service on PSP-1000 and PSP-2000.

yeah, days of annoying mini B cables are GONE! wooooot. one thing i love about the psp as a system, although newer versions may get upgrades (a la skype and brighter screens) the main components always stay on par for each psp gen. every single psp owner can experience this.

Sony has announced that all future first-party PSP games will be available through download in Japan, beginning later this year via the Wi-Fi Store. The store is scheduled to open in Japan on October 15th with the firmware v5.00 update. Games to be sold by direct download include Secret Agent Clank (11/20), Patapon 2 (11/27), and LocoRoco 2 (12/4) (these titles will also be available on UMD).

There is currently no date for the release of the store in North America or Europe. We're also wondering how downloadable games' pricing will compare to standard UMD retail prices (considering that direct downloads save on packaging, shipping and a slew of other costs). We'll update as soon as we hear anything.

What I'm really hoping this will do is put more PSOne classics in the store, it's severely lacking in the US and EU, JP is ok.
