Default Blu-ray Player under $160

Are there any Blu-ray players that are under $160?

Yes there is! Look on ebay and search for Insignia/Magnavox blu-ray players. There may be some competition but it'll be well worth it. I almost bought one for myself that included an HDMI cable but certain bills got in my way. You should give it a shot!

There's been speculation that on Black Friday there will be players around that price or less.

I would not waste my money on any of the Profile 1.0 players like the S300/301 with Profile 1.1 players being comparable in price.

The S300/301 boot up so slow, loading of Java enabled movies is sometimes +2 minutes and remote response is slow.

For someone who is jumping into blu-ray today, a Profile 1.1 is your best bet with improved playback capabilities and faster boot/disc loading.

You can get the Samsung BD-P1500 from amazon for $213.83 and you get the Matrix Trilogy Blu-ray for free ($74.95 value). So the price of the player is coming to $138.88. You can sell the Matrix Blu-ray on ebay if you don't want to keep it and you are still getting a great deal on the BD player.

If you find a store that has still a Samsung BD-P 1400 left you might get it for that price. One that has been on display. We had two 1400's left and we sold 'em both for 150€. Which is of course more than $160 but since stuff usually costs the same amount in $ as it does in € (even though the conversion rate is 1.4) you should get one for that price.

I wouldn't recommend any old models or ones that can't playback HD sound like the Sony BDP-S 300 or the Samsung BD-P 1200..

Try to get the 1400..

I agree. The best way to go if Matrix is a future buy. Best deal on the planet and better than waiting for it to be $149.99 on Black Friday and standing in line hoping to get 1 of 10 units in stock.
