Canada Pandorum Dec.29th from Alliance

Alliance will release the BR on December the 29th. Lionsgate.
Starz / Anchor Bay release the film in USA 3 week later.

As the Alliance BR is much cheaper: do you think that the discs will be identical, or will Aliance produce their own disk (with an inferior master)?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Canadian disc is a bare-bones deal, & does not have the same specs as the Starz disc.

It will be the same as the U.S. release. Alliance has yet to release a completely different movie alongside the U.S. release.

Yes, I'm aware that the Alliance version of The Wrestler didn't have the documentary, but at leas the video was the same.

Video and audio is all that matters to me. As the us bd was postponed to January I will take the Alliance Version. playusa.com sells it for GBP 12,99.

This IS usually the case, but we raise the question because the CDN disc is out 3 weeks before the US disc. If they were released the same day, I could see them being identical, this is just an odd case.

This is just speculation, but I bet both Overture and Alliance had the same discs pressed for the original December 22 Release. But then Overture decided to push it back to January, while Alliance is still ( in theory ) on track for December 22. Who knows, Alliance could have pushed back the date to January. I don't think I've seen Alliance issue press releases before.

Yup, I could very easily see that happen too. And no, sadly Alliance does not issue press releases, & if they did they'd likely make more $, but whatever.

You would think that they would... you know... being a decent sized distributor...

Apparently, the FutureShop website has the release date set to January 19, 2010.

Damn, I was hoping to get it earlier than the US

Have you all seen this film? What did you think? While it certainly had some moments I enjoyed, goodness, it certainly had its fair share of plot gaps.

My question is will it be locked. Some US titles that were region free in the US was locked by Alliance.

Default Region free?

Hi

Anyone confirmed yet whether the alliance version will be region free. I bought this from playusa.com having read some info that people suggested it was likely to be region free. Yet, PlanetAxel website which specialises in Region Free titles says the Starz US version is Region A only.
Just want to confirm so I dont have to unwrap it and can send it back for a refund.

Thanks

Sorry folks...its region coded...just tried this on my UK PS3 and it doesn't play.
On a positive note it looks to have all the special features of the US disc.

Thanks a lot for the info I received it today but will be sending it straight back. As the US version is also region locked will have to wait til March for the UK version. Prefer the US and Canadian covers too

Gave the disc a go tonight and have to say that i'm sure, if you're a fan of the film you'd be quite happy with the quality. The soundtrack particularly , throws you against the wall at times!!
..Hated the film though..huge disappointment. Sort of Aliens meets Event Horizon and not a patch on either one of them. Blind buys...you can't win them all!!
