Default TV Lift

I have pretty much made up my mind to buy a projector. And after a little bit of thought, and seeing a few set-ups here, decided to build my own screen. I'm planning on using the PJ for my movies, and keeping my LCD for TV to conserve the lamp. My question is, has anyone ever used a TV lift for their LCD. I found this site that has a kit for a decent price and was wondering if anyone's used them?

Here's what I know..... (all I know really)

1) never used one

2) Looks great!

3) EXPENSIVE........

4) it would be cheaper to buy a decent motorized projector screen, AND a flat panel mount, and mount your LCD behind the motorized screen, and just raise the screen for T.V. viewing......

You could even make a floating screen (like mine) and just put another set of "eyes" on the bottom of the screen, and manually "hang up" the screen with some "hooks" from the ceiling but for the money you're looking at spending already, I would just get a motorized screen, and flat-mount the LCD behind it

EDIT: if you did this, you'd probably want to make sure the back of the DIY screen is prettier than mine It would double as an accoustical panel too

I have used one at my friends house it was built into the furniture he had, it worked very well. I thought about doing what you are going to do but I was going to put the 46" lcd fixed to the wall and have the 110" screen drop down so you didn't see the lcd. just an idea.

I saw one of these displayed(different brand) in a model home I was looking at and after I got interested in a PJ I got the idea to use one. I'm a sucker for gimmicks, and I think it would make a cool conversation piece. I'd have to build a cabinet set-up for the lift, but that wouldn't be too difficult to design. Might even play around with the idea tonight, Wish I had a good CAD program.

I don't know what your setup will be like, so this might not work. You might also consider wall-mounting your flat screen and installing a motorized projector screen that will lower in front of the flat screen. I haven't checked those combos out, but having a motorized projector screen might be more cost-effective. Plus, with that configuration you won't see the projector screen in the background when you're watching TV.
