Simple question. Which one should I get.
The Polk costs more, but I heard the Klipsch is better for stuff like explosions and guns. Bottom line, it has more power than the Polk. I don't know much about it at all, but these are the 2 I'm thinking about getting. Right now the Sub-10 is out of stock on amazon, soooo I might be getting the sub-12 if I have to. So again, which one? |

I have the DSW Pro 500 and absolutely LOVE it.
The power difference between the two is only 20 watts so its not a big deal. The Polk has a way better Frequency Response: 25Hz-160Hz compared to the Klipsch Frequency Response: 28Hz-120Hz So not only is the polk going to hit lower its going to be able to go higher too. Plus the remote control with the Polk is super cool. I'd go with the Polk ![]() |

I have a polk sub-12 as does my best friend, I have two friends with Sub-10's too.
I also have a polk psw125 12" sub. The bass comning off the polk is cleaner and punchier. But the Klipsch is just heart pounding and ungodly powerful. I guess it just depends what you want. I'm thankful to have a uber powerful ear blowing setup: Sony towers/Klipsch sub12/Yammy 663, and also a more balanced refined sounding setup: RM8 front/rears & Center/psw125/Onkyo 605. Both setups have their benefits depending on what i'm watching. |

Ok, POLK it is then! Costs a little more, but I'll take your words for it.
That "heart pounding and ungodly powerful" comment is very tempting though..... ![]() I'll go to the store and see how it sounds first before I make the purchase. Thanks for the comments folks! |

Just wondering if you're limited to these two choices, because I would recommend against buying retail subs. There's nothing wrong with these products, but the best subwoofers at any given price range (ESPECIALLY the sub-$500 price range) are purchased internet direct, straight from the manufacturer. Companies like eD, SVS, Epik, Hsu are famous among the home-theater community for offering the best subs for the best value.
I was recently in the market for a $300-$400 sub as well, and after some research, the one I settled for was the eD A2-300 ($350). This sub packs 250W RMS of power and goes as low as a whopping 18Hz (+/- 3db). It is an absolute beast and is guaranteed to shake your house. My only problem with it is that it's big and bulky and might clash with the decor of your entertainment room. If that's okay with you, I'd recommend this to absolutely anyone. Another sub I was considering (and part of me wishes I got instead) was the Bic Acoustech H-100 ($250). The performance beats anything in its price range, but doesn't quite match the eD A2-300. The part of me that wishes I had purchased this sub was because it looks better and may be more appropriate for my small-ish room. Other popular options at ~$400: Hsu STF-2 ($350) SVS PB10-NSD ($429) Typically, a good ID sub will demolish any retail sub that's double it's price. |

Bok's choices are all very good. I would put the eD, the Hsu, and the Bic in the top choices for price-to-performance. I'd also put the SVS up there. It's awesome but it's kind of ridiculously huge and wouldn't fit everyone's area.
I have a polk sub, and it does the job, but if I was buying a separate I'd go for one of the aboves. |

I actually just bought the Polk. I'll have to look into those other ones for my other speakers then. I went with Polk or Klipsche because it was stylish looking and read some good reviews on it on here and other places. I also purchased off amazon because I had 200 dollars gift certicate to use.
