Default 720p vs 1080p

I have a question for everyone. I own a sony 50 inch lcd hd tv that is 720 and can show 1080i, now is there a much bigger difference between 720, 1080i and 1080p especially when watching blu-ray movies. Thanks

on a 50" TV, you'll notice the difference between 1080p and the other two,..

but 720p is fine..as is 1080i, depending on what you are watching...

anything fast moving favors 720p and drama type movies favor 1080i...
