....At least that's what they suggest with the marketing. LOL. I just couldn't resist making that outrageous statement. I thought I'd show off this 2.0 speaker setup for you guys to offer your opinions. HERE is the link to these on Amazon.

99% of the people on this site are not audiophiles or even know what good equipment really is. Well at least that is what I observe. Where is the site where people talk about real audio/video gear.
Hell, I am not one of them either. Onkyo TX-Nr906 (pre/pro) Rotel 1095 (200wpc x 5) Def Tech BP 7002's, CLR 2500, UIW BPZ/A (2), UIW 94/A (2) Pioneer BDP-05FD Monster 5100 MK2 Richared Grays s600 power conditioner |

No way these things are worth a grand. Not to mention that NO PC is capable of coming anywhere close to “audiophile” performance. Anyone who buys these is an idiot.

On the basic and relatively affordable level, you can stream lossless audio (FLAC, Apple Lossless, WAV etc) from you PC with a Squeezebox. http://www.slimdevices.com/pi_duet.html If you want to spend a little more dough, then a Sonos system is wonderful. http://www.sonos.com/ Now, the ultimate is a Sooloos system. http://www.avbuzz.com/audio-video/200803/sooloos/0.htm http://www.sooloos.com |

Take the best a PC has to offer and place it next to a tube amp & pre-amp and it’s no contest. It’s not a matter of what codecs it’s able to play, it’s the fact that PC’s are made for spreadsheets & gaming. Yes, they can be made for recording & mixing, but playback is another matter.

they look pretty cool though, like something out of babylon 5. remind me of membari cruiser for some reason. doubt they sound good enough to justify the price point. i know many here are into the HT hobby but unless your a saudi prince i doubt you can truly call you stuff audiophile equipment.

I've been using Windows PC's with lossless audio rips from my CD's, for about two years now. I use a fiber optic connection, pushing the data at 96k, and it's running through some pretty nice gear (Pioneer THX, Definitive Mythos, and JL Audio Fathom in one rig; Pioneer, Sonus Faber, and Vienna Acoustics in the other), and I get no complaints from serious listeners. It works out OK. In my next life I'll get some tube gear, nothing beats it. But what's the signal source? |
