Will Circuit City or Best Buy have Sony BDP-S550

Does anyone know if CC or BB will have the 550 in stock soon? I was gonna order from amazon.com but it says will usually ship in 3 to 6 weeks??!! I am already ahead of the game thanks to you guys here I went to monoprice and bought my hdmi cable as well as a hdmi/dvi adaptor because my TV is an older Hitachi projection 1080i with DVI plug no hdmi. Will this still be a HUGE improvement over standard DVD??

I have an older panasonic 1080i crt projection tv which i used with the ps3 through the component cable. It was far superior to my old dvd player, which also uses component cables. So the DVI will be at least that good. I use my HD satellite reciever with the DVI and it looks great!!

I called my local CC today about the Panasonic BD55, it is only carried online. I imagine the Sony 550 is also only carried online. You still get the 30 day return policy (can return to any store) but you will have to pay sales tax if there is a CC in your state.

at circuit city we carry it, as does best buy, but since it is brand new only our online store is carrying it. you should be able to special order them if you go into the store however, as i did for a customer today with the pan dmpbd35k and for myself with the dmpbd55. but if it shows available online, then you can get it from the store

CC stores will have it in stores in a matter of days. Their web site states whether a model is available online only or both.

In the case of the BD55 they show it available online presently and coming soon to stores.

I can't be for sure about that, but if I were to say which would be more likely to have it, I'd say Best Buy.

Bestbuy will not be selling the S550 in their stores but Circuit City will

Picked mine up at a local circuit city on 10/17, Best buy still does not have them.....question answered.

Well, it looks like the kid I talked to over the phone was ignorant or just lazy, as it does turn out that the BD55 is carried in-store, I picked it up last Friday. It's one heck of a player, with PQ far superior to my Samsung 1400 and better AQ as well, I am using the analog outs for the 55 and I was for the 1400.

Best Buy will be selling it in store, it's just not on their site yet. I was just in our local location and they already showed over 2000 units in the main warehouse, waiting for delivery to stores.

Amazon has the 550 on sale for $329 with free shipping and no tax. I ordered Monday night, shipped Tuesday AM and arriving Thursday. I will be returning to CC and save about $100 with tax.
