Default indy jones crystal skulls not playing on laptop

i have a sony vaio laptop with BD drive,

i tried playing it last night

it booted up my vaio BD player, and did the little "indy guy crackin whip" loading avatar, and then did nothing else.

i tried other blu-rays, and they worked fine.

was wondering if maybe i needed some sort of firmware upgrade for the software?

i tried it out on my ps3 when i got home this morning, and it worked just fine, so i'm at a bit of a loss as of what to do.

are there other BD movie players that i can DL to play my movies on my laptop?

thanks in advance for any help

PowerDVD 8 Ultra
ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre.
WinDVD 9 Plus BD

The included WinDVD BD is lacking(I have two BD VAIOs).
The newest PowerDVD Ultra or ArcSoft will most likely play it.

Isolate your system - shut off your wireless or unplug your ethernet cable so
it has no 'net access. Even though it doesn't use BD live, it could be trying to access an online site, and with literally millions doing the same, it could cause problems. I had no problem on my PS3 either, but I did notice a couple of things in the extras that made me think it was accessing an online site.

Shut down any other application running besides your playback program, then try it. The Indy BD has a pretty large initial front load (more than just the menu) and if you're running with minimum RAM configurations, it could be hampering the load if you're running other programs.

You can get the firmware update if you have the Sony/Optiarc BD unit from the Vaio site, but try updating your playback software first (from the program itself).

I had trouble with iron man's bd live though in all fairness it might've still worked.
What happened was my 60GB ps3 had bd live enabled and the chestpiece was glowing but i didn't get to the menu so i quite playback and set it to always ask permission before doing bd live and when it ask i said no then it came right up.
Will have to check it out futher but everything plays fine though if i had waited it might've finished compiling the bd live and went to the menu but i wasn't sure
so i simply fixed it to skip bd live...i only really care about absolute pq and aq
extra's mean nothing to me.
