Default Sony: We want Xbox 360 to succeed in Japan

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/article...cceed-in-japan

Quote:
Sony's president of Worldwide Studios, Shuhei Yoshida, has said that he wants Microsoft's Xbox 360 to succeed in Japan in order to help push the concepts of high-definition gaming to local consumers.

With Nintendo's Wii the most popular console in the Japanese market, Yoshida would like both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 to sell well in order to convince punters of a more sophisticated take on next-generation gaming.

"I like to see people here in Japan showing interest in high-definition gaming and more sophisticated gaming experiences," offered Yoshida, in an interview with our sister site Eurogamer.net.

"In terms of realistic-looking graphics and smarter AI, they haven't really shown the appetite for what this generation of gaming can offer. I'd really like to see both PS3 and 360 succeed here."

"What Microsoft is offering and what we are offering are closer, compared to what other platforms are offering. Because of that commonality, the new games coming out on 360 and PS3 help to get consumers more interested in this generation of gaming," he added.

Both consoles are currently being trounced in Japan by Nintendo's Wii. And although the Xbox 360 has been outselling PS3 in recent weeks, Yoshida sees the success as short-lived.

"Quite honestly, the real number being sold - we haven't seen real acceptance of the platform here in the Japanese market. The Nintendo Wii is still by far the biggest platform in Japan," he said.

And still on the subject of Microsoft, Yoshida admitted he's impressed with the New Xbox Experience, prefering the style of the avatars over Nintendo's Miis.

"I think it's quite nice. I like the avatar designs they're working on. Personally, Microsoft's work is closer to my personal preference. The Miis are very nice, but everybody looks cute, like Japanese-style characters," he said.

The full interview with Shuhei Yoshida, where he discusses the release of Home, forthcoming PS3 titles and the success of PSP, can be read here.

Mmmh, guys, you must have a reading comprehension problem, or maybe it's me that's brain dead.

The Article Xtop posted (and now you again) has absolutely -no- mention of a -Microsoft- Employee praising -Home-, which is the one article I am refering about that was mentioned by Wingman.

The article we have here is a -Sony- president praising - the Xbox's New Experience-.

but on the same token:

Microsoft: Third-parties shifting "from the PlayStation brand to Xbox 360"
Microsoft's outspoken director of product management, Aaron Greenberg, has stated that Japanese publishers are shifting loyalty from Sony products to Microsoft's Xbox 360.

At the Tokyo Game Show this week, Microsoft announced that Namco Bandai would be releasing Tekken 6 – a series previously associated with the PlayStation – to Xbox 360.

"I think there's been a tremendous shift," he told Major Nelson. "Never before in the eight years that I've been coming to TGS, this shift, frankly, from the PlayStation brand to Xbox 360 among third-party publishers.

"We're the platform they're looking to to help bring and grow their franchises around the world," he added.

Tekken is the latest series to move to Xbox and follows the announcement back at E3 that Final Fantasy XIII would get a simultaneous release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

"We've come a long way... Square Enix's biggest RPG franchises, Namco Bandai bringing their top titles including Tekken 6. A lot of great arcade titles that the Japanese publishers continue to really recreate for this whole new generation, and we're finally at a price the world can afford," added Greenberg.

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/article...nd-to-xbox-360

yea its not like the playstation 3 is NOT GETTING THE GAMES ALSO....

Aaron Greenberg, has stated that Japanese publishers are shifting loyalty from Sony products to Microsoft's Xbox 360.

shifting loyalty...shifting loyalty.

THE ONLY Loyalty is for developers to make Money, with the HIGH price to develop games its no wonder 3rd party Developers are putting more games for Multiplatform.

and we're finally at a price the world can afford," added Greenberg.

Yay were at a price the world can afford .yup you sure can afford it alright..

I am asking: Where is this article? I'd like to quote it.

Xtop's article in this discussion mentions a Sony person praising the Xbox experience, aka the REVERSE.

Im thinking you need to learn the reading comprehension. His quote was
"Um, one of people in the xbox division was quoted in a article praising home"

He said IN A article, not THAT article. I recall that article as well, it was on VE3D earlier this week i believe. I shall try to find it.

I should have been a tad bit clearer on what I meant. There was a article I saw (on the blu-ray.com forums) on how a member of the xbox division was saying good things about playstation HOME. I obviously don't have the link. Whether or not people want to believe it, doesn't bother me either way. The reason I brought it up is because Saprano said that MS never praised the competition (which is not true).
