How many members don't quite have a Blu-Ray player yet? - Blu-ray Forum

I just got a Blu-Ray player yesterday. I jumped so high when I heard the news (my dad, who also wanted a Blu-Ray, got it; I'm in college and won't see it until this weekend). He got Iron Man and Indiana Jones 4 and we're watching Iron Man when I get home this weekend. I also plan on getting Sleeping Beauty today to go with it.

However, that is not the entire reason for my thread: I've been on this forum for a few months without owning a Blu-Ray and I was curious if any other members were like me and joined just because they hoped to get a Blu-Ray or even just wanted to know more about it.

I personly had a player before I had movies, but there were many people on here that were like that. But I'm not going to speak for everyone on here. I personally just got myself a PS3 and LOVE IT. It's better then any standalone by far.

How does one "not quite" have a BD player yet? Is that like, you've ordered one, but it hasn't arrived yet? I'd lose the "quite"...

Welcome to the forum. I lurked around here for several months before purchasing my first player, simply because I wanted to gather as much real-world information as I could in order to make an informed decision. I'm anal about that with most purchases >$100.

So read and learn all you can. This is a great place for all things blu and HT. Remember that the search function is your friend!

I joined frist and got a PS3 about a week later.

I'm sure there are lots of members who don't own a Blu-ray player just yet, and are either thinking about it or browsing/posting to get more information. And why not? This is a great place to learn about everything BLU.

I think you'l also find that the majority have PS3's as their Blu-ray player, although there is a bit of a shift happening there as prices for standalone players drop in price. Whatever you eventually decide on is your choice and we'll help you reach that decision should you have any questions.

Hi: Newbie here. I've always jumped on the latest new technology but for some reason I've held back on a blu-ray player. I think the format war turned me off since I was one of the first to own a betamax. Remember those?
I always said I would jump into blue if Star Wars, Indiana Jones or Lord of the Rings was released to blu-ray. Well guess what! I've owned my machine for a little over a week and I couldn't be happier. I don't have many discs yet but I'm slowly building. Though I won't replace all my 1000+ dvd's, there are certain ones that I will.

Have had my PS3 for some time now but only since this past xmas have I been buying Blu-Rays. Waiting for the format war was the main concern as I didn't want to end up with a bunch of movies with no future player.

Now that I am into Blu, plan to buy each of my parents a Blu-Ray player, likely the PS3, for xmas this year.

I ordered mine last summer and went out and bought Pirates of the Caribbean so I would have something to play the minute it was hooked up. Now I'm hoping to make some big bucks so I can up-grade to a V 2.0 player for the BD-Live content.

I already have my PS3 for almost 2 years, and it's the best money spend. I recently bought a Samsung player, it's good, but not as good as the PS3. I've been replacing some of my movies that I owned in DVD, but mostly only buying new titles in Blu. Just waiting for LOTR, Indiana Jones, Bourne, Star Wars (like everybody else in this forum).

This forum actually prompted me to get a blu ray player. Plus I saw a demo in a store, and I was sold. You know I know people that still say there is no difference in the PQ and AQ vs. S-DVD. We live in a crazy world.
