It would be helpful if Blu-ray discs reviews were updated with respect to audio.
At most, a disc recorded in 5.1 can only deliver 75% of the audio experience of a 7.1 disc. If a Blu-ray disc is recorded in 5.1 AND it is a perfect recording, it should never receive a rating grade higher than 75%. Simply put, if 100% is perfection for a 7.1 disc, then 75% is perfection for a 5.1 disc. To do otherwise is not accurate and shortchanges full range recordings. Are mono, stereo, 5.1, and 7.1 equal? Blu-ray disc reviews should make this distinction. It should impact overall ratings. |
