Default Best Blu-rays to showcase a 7.1 system?

I know there are a handful of blu rays that are encoded in 7.1 format... but I was wondering which actually sound the best. Like if you had to make a short list of the top sounding ones where you really notice the 7.1 effects what would they be? (if anyone has actually tried them out).

I am assuming that sleeping beauty is not going to be one. I don't see how they could take a really old movie and make it sound awesome all the sudden just be reencoding it or something.

I thought WAR and Shoot 'Em Up were pretty impressive in 7.1

I think that would have to be 3:10 to Yuma.
Don't be too quick to underestimate Sleeping Beauty though, the 7.1 mix was awesome. I wouldn't mind using it to show off 7.1.

3:10 to yuma pretty much. shoot em up is such a bad movie I can't see myself buying so I have no say on that one but 3:10 to yuma's usage of 7.1 surrounds is amazing.

Much more subtle than Shoot 'em Up, but the Orphanage is a great 7.1 mix.

thanks for the suggestions keep them rolling in... Just a question.. anyone that has tried these 7.1 movies with an actual 7.1 setup.. did it make a difference over a 5.1 setup? I have heard people saying that there is no difference but I don't think they could possibly know since there isn't much 7.1 content yet.

Another thing.... 3:10 to yuma would have been a great suggestion but we have already seen it. May watch it again though. Im redoing our home theater for christmas and I wanted a family oriented movie sort of to showcase it so hellboy is out. I didn't like the first one the small part of it I saw.. is the second any better?

Was redcliff good?

I don't know I never heard that "REDCLIFF". I was search on internet "DTS HD 7.1 bu-ray". i found it http://forums.audioholics.com/forums...ad.php?t=48709

10 years ago, new technology on sound DTS(Digital Theather System) is advance loud sound than dobly digtal but pay $10 to $15 fee to loyal the company for DTS.

Most a company movie prefer Dolby Digital Sound than DTS because cheap price

the Dolby Digital company tested on DTS is too loud!!

Yeah that scene is ridiculous.. 20 min of of 50 cal blasting away.. almost like they filmed that scene for people to show off 7.1 systems..

3:10 to Yuma is the ultimate 7.1 sound experience in my opinion. I have seen nearly every major BD 7.1 release so far. The recently released Hellboy The Golden Army is another one that's hard to beat. I couldn't stand Shoot em Up. It was horrible. Forbidden Kingdom is another worthy showcase. Rambo IV didn't wow me as much.
