Default TV on Blu-ray

Although things are obviously still early on as far as even films are concerned with Blu-ray, how soon do you think studios will start announcing plans to release seasons of televison series on Blu-ray? I'm particulary interested in a couple of TV series from Twentieth Century Fox ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Angel", "Firefly" etc.) that I'll love to be able to replace their DVD counterparts with an all new high definition transfer.

My guess is that there will be a handful of TV on BD titles released throughout 2007, once dual layer BDs are more common.

I think HD shows will most llkely get release first ...

So the likes of 24, Smallville, Dead Like Me, Sopranos, Joey (haha) are good candidates.

I think that in the early days HBO mentioned Sopranos on HD discs and Sony mentioned Stargate Atlantis.

Personally I am not sure what TV shows I would go for... certainly some that got poor showing on broadcast like Fox shows (low bitrate)

BSG is in HD on Universal HD.

It is very grainy though... and UHD has lousy bitrates too (of course the latter would not be an issue on a pressed disc ... we hope ).

Being Universal also it would be on an HD DVD...!

One disc for an entire season works for me. Or series for that matter.

Maybe then I wouldn't have to see absuridites like these anymore:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...v=glance&n=130

For three seasons? Please.

Each season of X-Files for about $35 a pop ain't cheap, either.

I'm all for it ASAP. I know they can't do a lot of miracles for most of these shows in terms of actual audio and sound, but they sure as hell go a long ways to consolidating and saving us space and hopefully money.

I'd love to own a whole TV series on say...2 Blu-Ray discs? Maybe 3, tops? If even that?

Y'all feel me?

The shows that I really enjoy and would want to own on BD are all in HD anyways. So I am expecting multiple BD sets.

But, for the old shows in SD, I would expect no less than the advertised 25+ hours of SD content per BD. With 25 hrs per disc, a whole season per disc wouldn't be out of the question, with a seperate disc for special features and such.

That's a steal!

Seriously, I paid $70-80 each for all 9 seasons of The X-Files when they first came out. Believe it or not that was a bargain back then as the MSRP was $149.99 each.

I'd like to sell mine but they're not worth much at all anymore.

I remember those. Way too overpriced, and believe me, I LOVE the X-Files.

The next time Deep Discount DVD has that super firesale of theirs, I'll probably just finish it, but I think you all got my point.

This 23 hours of SD TV on a disk interests me too, Blu Ray just isn't for HD TV.

You could have the first 400 episodes of the Gong Show on 9 Blu Ray disks.
