Default Movies that had scripts/planned but were never made

What are some of the other movies that were planned or had scripts already but never were created and probably would of been great movies.

Examples:

- Willow 2, 3 - The Willow movie was suppose to be a trillogy with 3 movies. But only the first was ever made.

- Total Recall 2 - A script was created called Total Recall 2 but it was later heavily modified and turned into the movie Minority Report.

biggest ones i can think of are all the superman movies planned over the last 10 years but never made it past pre production.

while some of the ideas sounded awesome, i'm really glad tim burton never got his hands on the franchise, and he got dangerously close. i mean cmon, nicholas cage as superman???

also, this might spurn some controversy, but i read Frank Darabont's "Indiana Jones & the City of Gods" script that made its way onto the internet a few months ago and thought it was 10x better than crystal skulls. I was very disappointed Lucas passed on Darabont's script. Then again, this is the guy who pressed for more CGI in the movie, while Spielberg had wanted more live action stuntwork and DID like Darabont's script. oh well.

Wow, what a misfortune, seeing how he's one of the best directors. Even if Darabont wanted more CGI, Spielberg still used a hell of a lot of CGI then I thought he was gunna use (for an old-school action movie).

Probably the script that massively grabbed my interest was the movie adaption for
[Show spoiler]Halo, where all the spartans die in a battle, only Master Chief survives, and then basically follows the events of Halo 1. The movie got scrapped, but new light has shined on the film recently.

should have clarified: lucas wanted more cgi, spielberg did not (and if he had followed darabont's script there wouldn't have been as much). and i remember initially reading they planned to do as much live action as possible, guess that ended up being only like 10%.

and +1 to the halo script. still waiting for that one.

I always wonder why it takes so long for things to be agreed on, script-wise. "Freddy vs Jason" was in development for 10 years, which seems absurd to me, and I've read that since that came out a few years ago, there has been scripts floating around for a follow up.

I gotta say Frank Darabont's "Indiana Jones & the City of Gods" as well. I read that script and some of it was just flat out awesome. Would have been ALOT better than Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull which I did enjoy but it had some hmmmm moments to it.

The sequel wasn't an actual sequel, just trying to adapt another Dick book into a sort of sequel. The two stories were seperate and distinct.

(edited for clarity)
