Default BDP-S350 vs. Thunderball

I just watched parts of Thunderball and, while the picture is very sharp, the grain, noise and other artifacts make it very unpleasant to watch. There are some backgrounds, some walls, for example, which seem "alive" - similar to the effect of a moire pattern.

Are others seeing the same things? Or are there settings that I may have wrong? As it is, I think I prefer the less sharp DVD.

I have the 305 and a PS3 and I do not see that type of noise at all.

Thunderball freezes up in the 305, but looks and sounds great.

Have you set up your contrast correctly??

When I ran the HD Basics disc, the only thing that I hadn't properly nailed down myself was the contrast....mine was way too high.

Check that out...try it in a friend's player or perhaps bring it to a store to check it out.

I can't imagine the disc being faulty.

Good luck.

It certainly does look like a contrast issue, but since this is the only BD that looks this bad, I figured it was this title only. I look on the player and TV for video settings, but couldn't find a contrast setting. But now I see the contrast is set by mode (Vivid, Standard and Cinema). I changed it to Cinema and it looks much better. Now I need to see if I can tie the mode to the input since I want the TV set to Standard. (Bravia V4100)

Thanks!
