blockbuster does not require monthly fees?! woh
haha, sorry, I've never rented games before but in recent months, I have bought a lot of games that I lose interest within 2 hrs into the game (ie ass creed, gta4, etc)
How much do they charge?

Don't mean to stand out here but I love my PS3 too much to rent games that can be scratched or have dirt or whatever which can hurt the guts of my machine. I remember what rented DVD's looked like and I think the smoothness of my very well treated Bluray discs is a memory I want to keep

Hollywood Video is awesome in my area. Always staffed by people that love gaming/movies and are there even when they aren't scheduled to be around fellow fans. It's a great atmosphere

I will let my 360 handle those games haha (most if not all PS3 exclusives coming are worthy purchasing in my opinion)

Depending on how much you rent, renting from stores per game is a waste of money.

If I want to rent a game it has to be Gamefly. The BB near me only has about 5 games and they are never in anyhow. No other options. BOO.

I was thinking of starting a thread, but hey, this one already exists.

Considering the enormous amount of PS3 titles coming out the next few months it looks like I need to start renting games.

How is Gamefly? Is it like Netflix where you really have to get lucky in order to receive new releases? Or would my best bet driving to the nearest Blockbuster and renting it there?

The reason why I ask is because it costs the same to rent 1 game at Blockbuster as its have a monthly subscription to Gamefly with 1 game at a time. Though if I never receive a game then its money down the drain.

Whats everyone's thoughts?

Yes you have to get lucky to get a new release also you have to be lucky with blockbuster because they usually only get 1-2 copies so you have better odds with gamefly.

I, too, quickly lost interest in Ass Creed. Sorry, totally not adding anything to the thread, but I couldn't help myself

To be on topic, though, I use Blockbuster. Anymore, it's the only place I know of, at least around me, that still rents games. Depending on how often you're going to be renting, Gamefly may be a better choice. Blockbuster's gotten kind of expensive. I rented Lego Batman the other day and it was $8.55. For $13 with Gamefly you get one game at a time, but it's unlimited exchanges. For $23 you get two at a time with unlimited exchanges. So . . . it may be more worth your while to go with the online services.

Personally. I love Gamefly. There has been a couple of times where I didn’t receive the game I wanted a couple of times but usually I have a good back up. I share it with my Brother so we pay 12.50 each. I rent about 2-3 titles a month and so does my brother. The trick to getting the game you want is to have in your Q as soon as it is released on the website and keep it in there until it releases. It is first come first served. So if I have a game in my Q for 3 months and John had the same game in his Q for 2 months, I will get first Dibbs.

I have Gamefly down to a science! I get every new release that I want! You just have to know when to send a game in and you gotta know how long it takes to get to their facility! I'm on a 3 game plan and as long as i keep planning everything right, i will continue to get every new release game (knock on wood)!

I only keep un-realesed games in my Q and I send my game back in enough time so there's about a day without any game shipping to me so when the game gets released it automatically ships.

However mail can be slow at times.

I cancelled my subscription to Gamefly. Every time I got a game, I felt like I had to hurry up and finish the game so I could return it. It took the fun out of playing the games. Also, there was a lot of titles that I wanted to buy so I really didn't have the time to play the games I bought and the games I rented.
