Default Connection Issue- Onkyo 5300

Hi. I have a slight issue, and I have tried to resolve it on my own. A Quick Run down

I have a sony BD Player to HDMI 1
Apple TV to HDMI 2
Reciever to TV
..So Far sound is good

I also have the Wii going Red, White to TV, and The reciever is getting sound from something called ARC. (Not really sure what that means, but hey its good. I can also get sound from the TV through Optical, and thats going into the bottom optical port on the reciever. My problem is this. We have a 5 disk DVD player that we can connect the Red,Blue,Green cables to the TV, but I can not figure out how to get the Sound going. I have everything else set in the Reciever correctly for sound. I have plugged in the Optical cable from the DVD Player to the Reciever top port. What do I need to do now, The DVD player also supports the other sound connection component, or composite. (The plug looks like a RCA cable, but its has an orange end)

Would someone please walk me through what I need to do to get the sound to work from the reciever. The Reciever would only be playing the sound. The TV would be taking care of the Video, and there would be no passing through of Video.
