Paranoia is no doubt going to flop. JOBS doesn't look like anything special. Kick-Ass 2 might copy Red 2's performance compared to their first films.

Doubt it since that would require Kick-Ass 1 to have done well with it's first film.

Kick-Ass has only grown in popularity since it's original release, so I'm hoping 2 does well, after all it might encourage studios to see that films can get sequels and perform well if they didn't have a great opening weekend (looking at you Dredd)

Kick-Ass 2 - $25 Mill
The Butler - $21 Mill
Elysium - $12 Mill
Planes - $9 Mill
We're The Millers - $9 Mill
Paranoia - $6 Mill
Jobs - $4 Mill

Open Road Films and Relativity will most likely add another disappointment to their list.

I can say with 100% confidence JOBS and Kick-Ass 2 will not win the spot. I jsut think it's a bad spot for KA2, and most people don't even know Jobs is a movie!

I went with Paranoia, as it looks decent and maybe a good thriller is what people want right now. It's got Ford going for it. It's got Amber Heard in it...which that alone gets a movie ticket from this guy!

My film to see next weekend is The Butler for sure, but it doesn't seem to be getting much buzz or advertising. I think it will be the best of the bunch by a mile though. I wanted to pick this one...jsut think it will be a second place kind of film.

And this is coming from the guy that is the #1 Lindy Booth fan in the world and is hyped to see her in a big budget sequel!!!

I will be seeing all but Jobs one day next weekend for sure!

Pffft, yeah sure.

I'm sorry, but this is a two horse race, The Butler is the safe option and Kick-Ass 2 is the risky one. People love these sappy bubble wrapped dramas this time of year (The Help, The Blind Side).

A bland personality-less thriller isn't getting any butts in seats at this point of the summer.

I'm guessing Kick-Ass 2 will win this by a long shot, and considering the franchise's popularity, I'd be surprised if it grosses less than $30M.
The first film may have underwhelmed a bit at the box office, but it found new life on the home video market, so awareness for the follow-up is big. Also, while Jim Carrey's great days are far behind him, I have a feeling he still has a strong following that will give him the benefit of the doubt.

Especially when it's released by a new independent studio who has only released 16 films on its own and only 5 were decent hits. The other 11 made $31M or less domestically.

How much do you reckon the films will make?

I would not be surprised if The Butler catches steam and it gets the #1 spot. Hard to really track it for me. I think it will be top 3 for sure.

I don't understand who the audience is for Kick Ass 2. It's an R-rated movie (no one under 17 without an adult) about a 15-year-old female superhero.

Who exactly does this appeal to? OK, maybe 17 year-old-boys, but that's about it. Anyone older will think it's a children's movie. Children can't see the movie.

What idiot producer let this be an R-rated film? Even Spielberg can't get away with that.

You mean like the first film, that brought 100 mill at the box office.

This isn't a blockbuster, it's a dirty teen comedy with bloody action and sex jokes in, it's not a teeny bopper adventure.

In some more ghetto parts of the country, theatres don't care about who buys tickets to R-rated films.

It annoys me when people talk out of their ass and have no idea what is going on.

Domestic: $48,071,303 50.0%
+ Foreign: $48,117,600 50.0%
= Worldwide: $96,188,903

The first film made nearly $100 million on a $30 million budget not counting DVD/Blu sales & rentals. It was a huge cult hit. And was rated R
