I really like the Sony STR-DG920 for it's user friendliness and has decent power, I can't really fault it. Supports all the audio codecs, supports 1080/24p, upconverts all video to HDMI 1080p. great power and sound, easy to use and set up..... Good price.

Onkyo 606 or Onkyo 705. Either one is a great choice.

Onkyo 606, 705, or 805 is probably the best options for that price range. Look into them.

Seeing as i am looking for both a reciever and speaker system, i think ill go with the Onkyo 750 also, one question though, how does your typical speaker system CONNECT into the recievers, i.e. what type of cables does it have, where to they go etc

5-way binding posts on both speakers and receivers connect to each other via banana plugs, which hook on the speaker wire of whatever gauge you wish (12-14 is fine).

Give these threads a look:

Ya just get some speaker wire (whatever gauge you prefer) then just get some either twist on, screw on etc. banana plugs like these i've shown. Connect them to the speaker wire. The hardest part would be openeing the package and then just plug them into the receiver.

As for receivers, I'd go with the Onkyo 705 like you said you might if not go for the Yamaha 663.

Also what kind of speakers do you have that you will be pairing with the new receiver?

How much is €400 & €800 in US dollars haha? Well Im going to go by Amazon.com price on the 705 which is $479 in US dollars. So Im guessing maybe around $1000 US dollars is what €800 is??? Anyways in that price range I'd go with the Klipsch Quintet III and an Elemental Design A2 - 300 Subwoofer. This should all total right around $1000 bucks with shipping. And it will totally shake the house!!!

If you want to go seperates on speakers instead of a package like the Klipsch's above let me know and i'll do some reconfiguring.

How do you mean an all in one package? Im looking to buy a reciever seperate and speakers seperate also, preferably a sub with at least 250 watt output, total spending about 1000 euro which is about $1,500

Sorry I was way off on my estimate, went and looked it up the euro isn't as high as I thought it was.

Anyways, 800 euro looks like around 1200 US. Now I don't know if you can afford any higher but here's an excellent little system for 1300.00.

Im torn between the decision of keeping my existing speaker system and in some way (not sure how) connect a new reciever to it, is this possible, cant u buy an adapter or something? i mean the sony dav-is10 speakers are small, but their loud, i mean 50 watts per speaker and the sub rolls in at 250 watt..
