Default Samsung Break-In Period Setting...

Before I unpack and set up my Samsung pn58a650 does anyone know at what settings I should have my HDTV set to during this "break-in" period of 100-150 hours that I have been reading about lately? thanks

when i broke in my sammy, i set the cel light down to 4 or 5 and just put everything down to half like the above poster said. When i left for work in the morning i put it on discovery hd and turned it off when i got home from work. I wrote down my hours and when i got to 200 i set all the settings to what cnet recommended on their website for my tv.
I have had no burn in issues and lets just say blu-rays and hd tv look amazing on my setup.

hope this helps. I found discovery hd to be the best channel to use because of their great signal quality and wide array of colors. they also never have their little logo in the same spot for too long.

Try and stay away from Dynamic for awhile, I've had the 550 for three months now and do not use that setting...too bright for my taste..JMO

When you allow your tv's settings to age a little bit before watching.
kind of like warming up your car, you allow the colors and other things to set in. somebody else probly has a better explanation than i do.

I just got a new TV yesturday and started watching away...are there any complications that could arise from not breaking it in.

If so, then no. Although I would suggest that you tweak the settings to your liking or match these. The break-in period is a plasma tv Image Retention prevention program(try saying that ten times fast). It is not needed for LCD tv's as they are not as susceptible to IR, Plasmas are greatly improved in this regard than they previously were and really only get IR if they are abused or ignored.
