Midnight Club: LA Lock-up issues? - Blu-ray Forum

First let me say that I think the game looks great and I'm really enjoying it BUT, it keeps locking up. This is the only PS3 game that I can recall ever locking up on me and I've tried it with both PS3s with the same result.

Anyone else having a lock-up issue?

The only thing out of the ordinary is that I'm driving around a lot ignoring all the requests to race and just trying to learn the city. That means occasionally evading the police, trying to find the collectibles, etc.. I've completed a few of the races and earned a couple of trophies so it hasn't all been cruising. Anyway, with a PC there are probably 50 things I could try but with a console, I have no idea what to do with a lock-up issue. Any suggestions? Basically, I have to hold the power button down until it beeps to get out of it. The music is left playing but the wheel, another controller or the remote can't get me out of it.

More info, I was using a controller with rumble on one of the PS3s and using a steering wheel with the other one. As I mentioned, both systems locked after a while. Both systems have the patch also. One time I thought it locked as soon as the game started but after around 5-10 seconds, it started working. Locked completely later on. One of the other times, it started up fine but locked after a while of cruising around.

BTW, it is so much better with the wheel but it doesn't look as good on that system. On the 52" TV sitting around 6 to 6.5 ft. away, I think it looks great. On the system I use for driving games, it's 37" TV that I'm sitting 2 ft. from and it doesn't look nearly as good that way (but so far that has been a common issue with that setup -- not just with this game).

I played it for like 3 hrs last night. Games great and i had no issues...

i think mine did the update. but im not sure if it was 1.01 or 1.02. i have trophys and such if that makes a difference...

Mine did an update but I only have 1.01 and it hasn't offered the 1.02 update for me either. I actually didn't know there was a 1.02 update. I wonder if that is why I'm having issues (i.e. don't have the latest patch). I haven't tried deleting the game data but I guess that will be what I try next.

Im almost positive that i downloaded 1.02 last night. Im in the States also. Is there a way to check? I can check and write back once i get home...

Great game... played for a few hrs and no issues yet... had it all week and really getting into get.. amazing graphics and the races are actually harder than past Midnight clubs... over all a great buy!!!

Yeah, just follow benes instructions.

Also, NavsterKing and PolskAltima, can you list your version as well. Just trying to see if there's an update I don't have and if the version is the issue.

im running ver. 1.01... DLed and installed that on thur...

was never prompted to upgrade to another version...

I seem to be having an issue with my copy as well. It's not locking up but there's a flickering thing down at the bottom right which wont go away while i play this game. Im gonna go back to BB and exchange for another copy.

also running on version 1.01... they make you download it before you can even play...

I had that at first and I think I still get it in some of the menus but for me anyway, I've never seen it in the actual game.

On mine it wont go away. It's there during game play, menus, cut scenes. The game is great but it's annoying to see the flickering. I did run the update for the game so exchanging for another copy is my only option right now

that wont fix it... they need to release another patch...

its happened to me too... you need to turn off 1080p... it works fine for me w/ 1080i...

I had the flickering as well, I download the new patch (1.02)and everything works fine.

To the person having problems with it freezing, did you try deleting the patch then redownload it? Just make sure you don't delete you save game file, you can just check the size of the file. I think the patch was about 12 megs.

No, I haven't tried that yet but will before getting the new patch.
