Irks me, it's like people that complain about the price of a blu being 35 dollars. Ugh look around.

probably because for most of 08 it was at 400? so they kept that price just for the sake of their argument on the article. just a guess but up until the recent months the prices weren't less than 250.

that's really annoying to see. It's just going to be another issue for me to have to talk customers out of and tell them CNN is retarded. Of course it will take me 2 seconds to convince them that i'm right by showing the 1080p upscaled dvd vs blu-ray thing we have on our endcap but none-the-less, it's still annoying. Atleast i won't have as much explaining to do as talking those "I don't want plasma's, their junk" customers into buying a plasma.

Your post title makes it sound like Blu-Ray is a flop, not the player.

That's what the article is saying. That blu is a flop and not the sony player, they are targeting sony because it is there technology. Some people just hate sony like some people just hate microsoft.

But that is the problem with a lot of consumers. They pay the price they see in the store, they don't shop around for the best deal on the web, and that's why it's an issue.

Then it's their own damn fault. And the only person they can blame is themselves.

They also call Vista a flop, which is really hard to belive, because I have Vista on my computer and I love it, they call Spore a flop which in my opinion is a great video game, and it's hard to say that "oh no it's only the 80th best selling video game" sure that isn't AMAZING, but when there are thousands of video games that come out a year, 80th isn't bad by any means, there still making tons of money. Lastley, it's hard to say Zune is bad, I mean I prefer iPod, but Zune would definitely be my second choice, so that's still no "flop" by my means. CNN has no clue what there talking about.

1frs PC game don't sell anymore, unless you're World of Warcraft. It's the only video game on PC that sells millions (when the addons shows).

IMHO the biggest fail of 2008 is the Iphone, cost a lot of money and too much problems with the software...

Do any of the general sites ever have anyone that knows what they're talking about writing the articles or is it always just someone winging it?

They aren't winging it .. it's paid viral marketing under the guise of informing people...IOW a well funded disinformation campaign. Just like there was when HD-DVD was around .. now it's xmas and sowing more FUD is on the agenda. This is about the 10th one in the last few days .. it's no coincidence .. it's co-ordinated.

That is what I believe also. A coordinated series of articles saying Blu-ray is not the future have all popped up right before the crucial Christmas shopping season. There are business interests that simply do not want to see Blu-ray take over because it will hurt their profitability (ala Apple).

well, they auto-fail right off the start by saying Blu-ray DVD and then go on in the article using DVD when they are talking about Blu-ray.

Also on the next page they have spore as the next fail in line, and they actually use a user based score from gamespot as a source hahahahaha, because those things are soooo trustworthy

I agree, I will never pay over $30 for a blu-ray (except Dark Knight & boxed sets). Usual range is $15-24, which is the same for most new DVDs

$400 for a player , I got my Sony BDP-S350 (w/ free Ironman bluray ) for $277.
