I am not very helpful in terms of what is great for computers, but I did read that Microsoft is coming out with a new OP, Something like Windows 7 or something. Not sure if it will be like a WindowsMe, but if you're concerned with Operating system, that's something to consider.

Well, I have my concerns about the Vista system but not to the point of disqualifying the unit. I am just wondering if it is really future proof. I need it to last about 5-6 years and still be relavant. It costs about 2 grand so the dang n thing better be awesome. I have heard a little about a DELL and HP competitor to this new upcoming Sony but we will see...thanks

Get a Dell.

^ that is Dell's new offering and it's SICK! No system will last forever, but that is much more future proof than the Sony you specd. out. It's also a nice all in one system. Sleek, sexy, 24" of goodness, blu-ray built in - what more could you want?

Sounds like a good computer, the RAM is good. Do you want a laptop or desktop?

Windows 7 isn't going to come out for a while. It's a new operating system like Vista was to Xp.

I agree completely with spcamaj. Save yourself a thousand dollars and you can build a wonderful system yourself. Just take the time to look for rebates and the best parts. The only problem I have with systems from Dell and HP is that when you open up one of their systems the motherboards are crappy and they tend to put some of the worst hardware in it and then you discover that they put green compartments in it to make it hard for you to upgrade your system. Then, when you call the so-called technical support you think you're calling across town whereas you're really talking to someone in India. I'm sorry to go off into left field, but this is exactly what you will deal with. I would make a final point: BUILD YOUR OWN SYSTEM WITH THE PARTS YOU LOVE AT THE CHEAPEST PRICE AND YOU WILL REWARD YOURSELF WITH A JOB WELL DONE. God bless and good luck.

Well, if you're are worried about it being future proof, an all-in-one from ANY company is definitely NOT the way to go since you won't be able to upgrade most of the parts.

I have thought about that but I want form and function...sleek all-in-one buuild in to set on top of my contemporarry desk would look sweet. I have a Dell now, LCD/monitor (browse while I watch ESPN), 8100 Inspiron (old as heck) and a wireless set up. - it looks really sweet but the computer sucks...So the Sony looks great, has BR, blutooth, a ton of memory and Ram, etc and a wall-mountable 24 inch 1080 monitor.. I think with these specs it should be good for at least 6 years. My inpsiron was purchased while I was in business school and has served me welll until the "blue-screens" of death took over. The Dell, show earlier in the thread looks good but does not have as good of specs than the Sony...we will see, I look forward to more feedback..
