Only problem is this is not the same MGS bundle that was for sale earlier. This one is the same as the current 80GB model (i.e. no backward compat)....so I don't see these selling all that quickly even though it's a good deal considering it has the PS3's best game bundled in along with a free copy of Pain too.

Luckily I managed to pick one up before they were gone. MGS is truly a great series. I even bought the collector's edition right after I bought my PS3 and played through MGS 1 - 3. This is basically a book, story, wise. No game that I've played or seen has ever had a complex story such as MGS before.

Seems like this is a pretty cold deal at $499 if this is just the current 80GB.

I'm pretty sure that that IS the Backward compatible version.

The non-Backwards compatible MGS4 PS3 is this one:

If it's not the backwards compatible version it is a serious ripoff, as you can get the 80 gig PS3, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Pain for < 500$.

+1 I think the one I just ordered on amazon is backwards compatible. The PS3 bundle with the dark cover is non-compatible. They better send me the one with the white cover or else cause I spent $500.

Weird - the link I originally clicked took me to a $399 MGS bundle. That one is/was a good deal but not backward compatible. If the link is now going to a $499 model I'm not sure what that one is. Before ordering it I'd definitely try to verify (somehow) that it is indeed backward compat.

EDIT - just double-checked the link again. Sure looks like this one is the backward compat version! Good deal to jump on!
