Default Journey to the Center of the Earth Green?

Hi everyone,

My fiance and I just watched Journey to the Center of the Earth yesterday, and could only give the 3D version maybe 15 minutes, before our eyes hurt too much and moved to the 2D.

Our problem was that everything on the screen was green (similar to black and white, everything's a shade of black/grey/white etc.).

Did anybody else have this problem? Anybody know how to fix?

Thanks
Brendon.

is your TV in the corner of a room, or are you sitting off to the side?

I noticed when watching today in 3D that it would go either greener or redder depending on the angle i was facing the TV.

Once i go focussed straight-on to the TV and watched it, my eyes settled in and everything was great. Did take a bit to adjust, thats for sure. Also, watch it in low light too as it mentions to do

Agree. Although let's face it, 3-D home viewing is not perfect.
But this release was great, some people just can't focus with the glasses.

Well thanks for the suggestions, although, our TV was directly in front of us, all the lights out, and no lights outside (save a streetlight).

I did try to muck with the TV settings (turning brightness up as suggested adjusting the color ratio, contrast etc.), but nothing seemed to make it better.

We saw Beowulf 3D in the Imax theater, and thought it was done really well - everything was a little fuzzy around the edges, but much cleaner than this. Was the Beowulf 3D blu proplematic as well? what's the problem with 3D home viewing?

Unfortunately, I've gotta say I was very dissapointed with this buy - it was a decent movie, but definately not worth it if we can't get the 3D working.

I found the 3D version to be very green/red as well; all the other colors just seemed washed out. I saw this movie in the theater and it looked awesome; so I don't know why I can't get it to work properly on my set. Then again, the glasses that came with the disc (green/red) were nothing like the glasses that we got in the theater.

I have a Plasma by the way and making color adjustments didn't seem to do much.

I agree, they could've used the same technology they used in the theaters (they used it in both Journey and Beowulf.... RealD 3D) but perhaps they had some issues getting it to work on home sets? Who knows. The bottom line is that it's still very new and this is only what, the second? 3D blu-ray to come out yet. Give it some time, they'll do better (I hope).

Yeah, like the fact that no current player would be compatible, and not all tvs would work either. Of course anaglyph is flawed( Frequent minor ghosting on this title, plus the color subtraction), but it's all they could do. Actually this is one of my better looking 3-D titles. They'll probably do better towards the end of blu.

BTW, The movie never looked green to me. The glasses make it look slightly magenta, but all they really did was dim the image slightly. I find it looks acceptable on my Toshiba 47HL167(never had the "green issue") with the screen set to "Standard" mode for the 3-D.

i really enjoyed this 3D thing, i can honestly say its the only 3D movie that actually impressed me when i started watching it, but with your eyes hurting....i first started to watch it at night and after about 1/2 hour my eyes hurt, so i went to bed woke up the next day and carried on with out any problems, its tuff to watch something that tricks your eyes after an entire day of looking at the computer/work,

If the movie is green its probably set up for the 3D version. Go into setup and select the 2D version.

First off, I really enjoyed Journey To The Center of the Earth.

My initial viewing of the 3-D version was not that good. On my 52-inch Sharp Aquos LCD I had the backlight and brightness settings all the way up and the contrast as well. I watched at night with all of the lights off. The ghosting of the green and magenta was extremely pronounced.

I made the following adjustments and the result was nearly flawless:

Backlight at full power
Contrast at 20
Brightness at 0 (that's right - ZERO)

The green and magenta color shift disappeared and watching the movie was like looking into the TV, not at just the surface. Sure, the colors were dull, but everything else just POPPED off the screen.

It seems to me that high contrast will ruin your viewing experience because it really enhances the green and magenta offset colors on the screen. So will too much brightness. One has to experiment with brightness and contrast settings only. Simply make adjustments until the 3-D image looks right. It is well worth the effort.

With proper adjustment Journey To The Center of the Earth is more like a Journey to the Center of the Screen. I am extremely pleased.

Next I will check out Polar Express in 3-D. I am just not ready to watch a Christmas movie so I will wait until December.

I hope Beowulf 3-D will be released on Blu-ray.
