Samsung BD-P1500 Upgrade firmware 2.0? - Blu-ray Forum

Hi all,

New to this Blu-ray, just brought this Samsung player and really happy with it. I have it linked to ethernet and there is an update to 2.0 from 1.1 profile I think it has now.

1) What are the benefits of upgrading to this and if I don't at the moment will it stop me watching new films coming out?

2) Do anyone know if I upgrade to this an have problems I can re-ver the player back to the current version?

I am concerned because the 2.0 firmware is only a month old and I don't want to cause myself a world of pain by doing this, I just want to watch films!!

If anyone can advise I would appreciate it. I have the UK model.

I upgraded the firmware on my DB-P1500 the night I bought the player, and I haven't noticed anything wrong with it after the upgrade. Bear in mind, though, that you will need to attach at least 1 GB of storage space via USB in order for any BD-Live movies to work, but that's standard stuff for any BD-Live capable player that does not have on-board storage.

I don't think you can revert the firmware to the previous version. You may have to get another player or see if Samsung can do it for you if you really need it done.

Thanks for the reply, I have applied it to the player and so far it is working fine. I read about the 1 GB USB, I had a spare 4 GB usb stick which seems to do the trick.
