There's no question in my mind that I am Legend is hands down the best looking BD out there. Say what you want about WB and lossless(I have the same reservations) but they are responsible for some of the best and the flatout best BD titles out there. Also there are some up there that just don't belong up there. Iron Man doesn't look all that good, neither does Sunshine, Spider-Man, the 5th Element and Transformers all have parts of the movie that show what Blu-ray can do, but are way to inconsistent to be up there.

BARAKA,

just check this review from dvdbeaver : http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDRe...ka_blu-ray.htm

Image : NOTE: The below Blu-ray captures were ripped directly from the Blu-ray disc.

The Blu-ray is advertised as "FULLY RESTORED - THE FIRST MOVIE EVER TRANSFERRED IN 8K ULTRADIGITAL HD!" Rendered from restored 70mm elements this Blu-ray makes a bold statement when it claims to be the 'most visually stunning' ever. But I'd be hard-pressed to argue. Technically it does have the best images I have ever captured on this new format. Detail, contrast, color - everything is in the extreme high-end. I was certainly 'wow'ed' and I believe I've now found the perfect demo disc for when guests head over. It works out well as they can still hold conversation and eventually when their eyes drift to the screen - I'm sure they will be as hypnotized as a I. I can't elucidate much further on the visual expertise than simply pointing you to the full resolution screen caps (obtainable by clicking the reduced image below). I suggest the first and last as possibly the strongest testament to this zenith extreme of this Blu-rays clarity and dimensionality.

(ps: you see to have forgotten some especially ratatouille) forgot ratatouille

I think that the Pirate's Trilogy by far has the overall best Picture Quality. From beginning to end, in all three movies, the picture is very consistent and detailed. Everyone I show these movies to just stands there in awe

As someone mentioned earlier, if we are going strictly on PQ, not to mention I didn't really care for the film? Speed Racer was ASTOUNDING.

i also like that you excluded animation movies, not fair to include them in a poll against live action

What do people think of the 1st disc of Planet Earth (the BBC version)? I haven't seen it on blu-ray yet, but I wanted to rent it so I can show off my system when my friends and family come over this weekend.

Yes, sorry it took me awhile to enter all these in! I didn't include animation because it wouldn't be fair against live action, that's true. However, a poll of the best PQ animated movies is a pretty good idea.

All of those are good but I voted for Blade Runner a movie almost as old as I am but looks like it was just released when on blu-ray

So is the consensus that I Am Legend is a must-own?

I've seen it twice in standard and I love it.

I rented the I Am Legend BD to check out the alternate ending, but I didn't buy it. Don't really love the movie. My vote went to Speed Racer. Say what you want about the movie, the colors just expode off the screen on that one.

IMO, anyone who did not vote for 'Baraka' simply hasn't seen it on BD.....

"...the film represents the current zenith of Blu-ray picture quality. The depth, clarity, and color reproduction of the film is incredible." (Blu-ray.com)

"...the best looking live action Blu-ray release I have EVER seen." (The Digital Bits)

I haven't seen all of these choices. But I'm always impressed with I Am Legend, the Pirates trilogy, I Robot, Speed Racer, and most recently Incredible Hulk.
