Default Buying imports...

Anyone in the US refuse to buy from other countries even though the regions match and the movie will still play? (i.e.- Canada)

Are there advantages or disadvantages?

Why would you refuse to buy from Canada? Actually with the recent drop in their dollar, there was and still is value in importing from there.

The UK is a bit more pricier but their blus are a little cheaper in £. i.e Gonnies is £11.98 there and would have been priced $19.99 here

yeah seriously idk why anyone would "refuse" to buy them? if you cant wait for the US release then its worth the extra few bucks (to me anyway, im very impatient ) to go ahead and buy them.

I am from the UK and most of the UK blu's are subpar in terms of the offerings in the USA. I usually buy US Blu's whenever possible.

I have replaced prestige from UK to US for example. However, if the movie is not available in the USA I will buy the UK version.

I have a couple imports, and they'll probably be my only ones. "Children of Men" and "The Island". Both are great visually but they have no lossless audio and COM has no extras. Add to that the menus aren't in English on it and it's kind of annoying.

I can understand the OP's desire not to import- while the movie is usually solid, that's all you're getting. "Sin City" from Canada has NO extras and some French on the disc and cover. I'm going to wait on it for now.

Advantages: Getting BD's before they are released here.

Disadvantages: Shipping. Increasing the trade deficit.

I imported 3 UK blus (Reign over me, Run lola Run and Almost Famous)

Very pleased with all 3.

Planning on importing Asian BDs like The Protege, Exiled, The Warlords, Sparrow, SPL, etc since they all got great review on here, and ALL have 7.1 lossless.
