Default What made you go blu?

I'm sure everyone has their own reasons....why did you decide to turn to blu-ray?

Many things:

-the downfall of HDDVD, had a XBOX360 HDDVD drive (up for sale on some site...no advertising ). I later found out that it didn't support lossless audio I just flipped out NOTE: Always do your homework boys/girls

-Godfather BD was coming out

- on this site, if I buy a player I could join this site and use all these smilies!

-impusle buy...I just went in for a new XBOX controller battery!!! Walked out with a Sony S350, Ironman and a high visa bill

When I bought my PS3, it came with a free 5 Blu-ray movie offer. Got the 5 movies and well lets just say I couldn't stop at 5.

I got it to be part of the super secret elite Blu-ray.com forum!

Okay, really, I got a PS3, ended up buying a hi-def TV, noticed my DVDs didn't compare to the movies I had on Blu, so made the jump.

The fact that it was the next logical step up from regular DVD.

IMO the 'high def format war' was a really big joke played by Toshiba on the gullible.

It wasn't even a really funny joke because it was so subtle that some people actually took it seriously.

Two reasons

I got an HD-DVD player for my birthday in '07 so I jumped on that bandwagon and I loved the picture quality. When that fell apart, after seeing the picture quality, I couldn't go back to just regular DVD.

The second reason is my XBOX360 got the "red ring of death". This was my second XBOX360. Guess what happened to the first. I decided not to even bother with another one since they have such a bad reputation, so I decided to get a PS3 which of course took care of getting a Blu-ray.

I have had my ps3 since launch in europe so that would make it may 07

i was always debating which way to go...but after doing my research i got a ps3 for blu-ray mainly and they had a better movie selection when it first came out

it was fun when the format war was on

Saw it first time at Circuit City and said wow I need one of those. I sold my Wii and that same week I got $200 because my tv went on sale at frys so Best Buy price matched it for me and so with my $400 I bought my blu ray player and got to choose a free movie and unfortunatly I went with Surfs up.

Default What made you go blu?

A big bag of cash from Sony.

Seriously, the PS3 price drop and the Amazon BOGO's. $10-$12 apiece for Blu-rays really built my collection, impatiently waiting for round 2 to begin.

I read about the new technology being developed years ago, and simply waited until it was released & an affordable player came along.

My love for movies and seeing them in the best quality possible. Watched the fight between HD-DVD and Blu-ray with nervous interest as I wanted the Blu-ray format to win really badly due to it's potential for data storage. I was thrilled when I learnt that Blu-ray had won. I was going to buy a PS3 but found out it wasn't ideally suited to sit horizontally so I went for a Sony Blu-ray player that fits nice and snug with the rest of my techie gear

Next step, once I can afford it, is to get a full HD TV. Currently own a 24" HD ready Samsung tele.

Didn't want to wait for the HD vs. Blu war to end. Liked the color of the Blu Ray cases more so I went with Blu. Glad they won.
