Default Whats with the crappy blu ray releases?

Im starting to feel that blu ray titles are being pushed out with no thought into them whatsoever. There are great releases out there that have great Video Audio and Extras but for most of them they are in my opiniun enhanced dvds. Im reading to many reviews on blu ray releases that rate them below 50% and beleive its down to studios putting them out quick to make money fast. I can understand with older films when it comes to sound and video quality being average but modern movies should look great. Special features are the worst culprit with many blu ray releases having ported extras from the dvd version. Just wish studios would release their titles with the best available footage at that time and not get lazy a port all the extras.

Blu ray is HD and beleive that evrything on the disc should be of highest quality from video, audio and extras.

Cool

What have you purchased or rented lately that you haven't been happy with?
All the latest releases I've seen have been phenomenal.
Indy 4, Incredible Hulk, Ironman, Sleeping Beauty, Hellboy II, The Thing, Sin City, Kill Bills just to name a few.

Can't be sure about the extras because I have no interest in them

Yeah, not sure exactly what movies you're buying that are causing such disappointment.

And not sure what your problem with the etxras are either. If the DVD release had comprehensive extras, why not port them over to the Blu-Ray? In fact, skimping on the extras when they're available is even more annoying.

I understand what you say but there have been some damn good extras on DVD's that deserved to be ported over. Just look at the Godfather..all the excellent original features have been inc..i would have felt short changed if they werent there. Some new releases that have come out like The Godfather for instance have inc new HD features as well..also releases like The Omen,Close encounters have done this and inc all the original features. When star wars comes out i want that excellent 3 hr doc on it as well as new stuff. I for one am glad they are porting the dvd extras over.

The only movie that i bought on blu-ray that was horrible and wanted to return it for the dvd was a movie called "otis". i love this movie but the PQ was horrible and it didnt have any of the extras that the dvd had......yes 0 extras!!! wtf!! but everything else has been amazing! just bought kung fu panda and wow! its crazy! and talk about a movie i though wouldnt look all that good but turned out to freakin amaze me and still has my jaw hit the floor everytimr i put it in.....sleeping beauty....just wow!

what movies are you buying that dont amaze you? I remember when i bought halloween and i though geez this doesnt look that good......well i rented the dvd and good god, bluray makes this movie look like a gem. so maybe what you need to do is go and check out the dvd and compare.....well except for otis b/c i swear the upconvert looks better then the blu version.....i dont know what the hell they were thinking releasing it like that but whatever i bought it and would trade it for the dvd in a heart beat.

Besides all the great looking new films being released I'm loving some of the catalog stuff that's been dropped on us these past couple months!! Gauntlet, Every Which Way But Loose, Bond titles, and Planet of the Apes. Not sure what the OP is not liking.
