Default sony XBR Picture settings advice, what does backlight do?

I have a new sony KDL 46 XBR4 , I wanted to know if anyone would share the picture settings with me. I'm not sure what backlight function does, an which way should it be adjusted. When DVD+ are played on an upconvert sony dvd player to tv, I get some green in dark areas. Any sharing would be appreciated. What difference between Auto1 an auto 2? No explaination in S ony manual.
thanks

Check the Sony XBR owners thread in the sticky thread. You should find answers to your questions there

Backlight should adjust the intensity of the light behind the lcd screen. I dont know about your sony but I have mine set to 1 on my samsung. The green in black problem sounds like a calibration issue.

Turn off the 120Hz Motion Flow if you can. Just a personal thought. It ruins movies. The quality stays great but because of such high-end refresh rate, your movies won't looks very cinematic (24p) anymore. It takes away the magic of how a movie is supposed to look like.

It only works great with sports channels and video gaming.

Again, this is just a personal thought. I don't even own a TV with Motion Flow but I've seen plenty of it...
