Default PS3 with str-dg820 Please HELP

Hi I just bought a Sony Str-dg820, I have a PS3. The problem i have is I want to enjoy DTS-MA via HDMI but my TV only takes DVI, when I plug the TV in I get no signal to the reciever only video passing thru(no audio) when I unplug the TV the reciever sounds great. Is there a way to bypass the audio out to the TV?

With the PS3, the only way to get those codecs is through HDMI.
You would be able to get them if you were using a stand alone player through
multi-channel.

EDIT: I just re-read your post.......You should be able to get audio to your AVR, just go from
PS3 > AVR with HDMI and AVR to TV with a HDMI/DVI right.

ANYONE!?

you will not get sound from DVI as it cannot carry an audio signal, just video. you have to do hdmi from ps3 to receiver then hdmi from receiver to tv for this to work

PS3 to Sony 820 (HDMI/HDMI)
Sony 820 to TV (HDMI/DVI)

That is my set up, except my TV is HDMI. There is an option to disable audio pass through on your Sony 820, this will just relay the video only from your PS3-->Sony 820-->TV, check your manual. This should solve your problem.

By enabling this feature your Sony 820 will still accept the HD audio signal from the PS3, just not pass it to the TV.

should be a setting like "HDMI Audio Out"...at least thats what Onkyo uses, not sure what term Sony uses...anyways, turn it off.

Page 53 in the manual explains that in the HDMI menu you need to change the Audio out to AMP.
