Default whats with all of the imports?

sorry if that is a dumb question. i just dont really understand. will these movies be released in the US in the future? or will they only be available as an import? a couple of my top movies are being released as imports soon. for instance, i love alpha dog, but i dont really want to pay 50 bucks for it. but if its never gonna be released without being an import, i will.

Some of the foreign language films that are available by importing probably won't be released in the United States for some time. Also, Amazon is not the only place to order imports from, so prices may vary.

Distributors in other countries pay alot of money for exclusive rights to films. This includes all different media. They aren't bound to when they can release the films.

There is very little chance the domestic rights holder for Alpha Dog will release it to Blu-ray anytime soon. Get it from the UK as it is region free:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alpha-Dog-Blu-ray-Sharon-Stone/dp/B000TQLJ8M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1226449060&sr=8-1

I just went through checkout and to my door in the U.S. this Blu-ray would have cost me $27 shipped.

I just ordered 'Zulu' from Amazon UK and it cost me all of $25.42 (plus 76 cents from my bank for 'currency conversion'). Not bad at all. This is mainly due to the dollar being a lot stronger now than it's been in recent months (or years!).

Another reason most people import is because different studios might have rights overseas. If someone prefers Buena Vista over Sony, they might get the import Starship Troopers. Sometimes overseas versions are superior in terms of AQ/SQ and/or extras.
